That is my estimate. He is an expiring on OKC. I cannot see anyone giving a #1 for him. This summer no one was willing to give him more than 2.5 million. FWIW I would be pleased with getting him. I do know that the Thunder right now are more concerned with a couple other bigger trades.
How would everyone's outlook on the Covington for Capela trade look if the Rockets were to then follow that up with getting Nerlens Noel? I love the Covinvton trade for resource re-allocation. But to chase it with Noel would be MASSIVE in my mind.
I think most of them would play some. Other than Markieff Morris and possibly Nerlens Noel, I don't think that anyone is going to play more than 15 minutes a night. A lot of the center minutes will go to Tucker and Covington. It is why I can understand why the Rockets are being so aggressive for another wing player.
I thought the Thunder were trying to move Adams out, and give Noel Adams's minutes? Probably not as big a concern now, if they move Gallinari's salary out.
I know a certain banned CFer whose stated fever dream was to trade Capela and bring in either Nerlins or Thon Maker and play 5-out all the time. He said this so often (and so belligerantly) that right now, he's going through about one F5 key every 20 minutes.
Hard for me to believe that OKC would be sellers when they are sitting at the sixth seed in the West only two games behind Houston and Utah.
There's actually a 10-page expose in his insider newsletter about how impactful Thon Maker would be in a Rockets uniform last month.
The Thunder are in an odd situation. They cannot bottom out like some teams, ownership expects them to win enough to keep fans showing up. HOWEVER they are still in the process of rebuilding. Noel is a free agent at the end of the year, so they could resign him.
the thing is he was right about 5 out but nobody could take him seriously because he would say stupid **** like Thon Maker and Zhou Qi being better than Clint
Buy low; sell high. If Presti can acquire more draft picks and assets that's a win for him. He already shipped off Gallo so anything is possible.
Yeah I mean I could imagine them selling for good value, like moving Gallo for 1st round picks or something, but hard to imagine them just salary dumping Noel for no reason when they are a playoff team right now.
1) We were a different team when he was trashing Capela all the time. We had CP3/Harden. The system we were running then worked. We were a hamstring a way from a championship series. 2) The team changed when they dealt CP3 for Westbrook. Westbrook can't shoot so making him and Capela work has been a struggle. 3) No one ever hated on the idea of 5 out, we hated on the idea of playing bad players instead of Capela.
