Maybe... https://www.foxnews.com/politics/utah-rep-introduces-bill-to-recall-u-s-senators-romney Swipe at Romney? Utah lawmaker introduces bill to recall US senators
I may have missed it, but Dems don't summarize it so concisely and easily to understand. It's always in there, but there's an endless amount of other filler or other justifications or whatever. Or they talk over each other so some Dems say something like this while others bring in all sorts of other nonsense and convolute the message. Messaging is about clarity and simplicity, and Romney nailed it. Dems should just repeat this and ONLY this over and over again. Nothing about the Bidens or how terrible a person Trump is or anything else or how he's racist or hates immigrants or all his other failings. Just this.
Romney has like 92% support in Utah. Trump took like 13% in the last election. Mormons actually have some values. Even if they’re weird
In light of Romney's vote and speech... sue collins looks even even more pathetic. And this admission only adds to that...
Another of the three Democrats that might have voted to acquit says she will vote to convict on both Articles of Impeachment... so with Doug Jones and now Sinema voting convict, its down to Joe Manchin. Some believe Romney's decision made it easier for Sinema and Manchin to vote convict. We'll see...
And there you go... no bipartisan vote to acquit, but a bipartisan (plus Independent Justin Amash) vote to convict.
Utah Sen. Mitt Romney pledged Wednesday to do what no other GOP senator would: take a vote of conscience to convict Donald Trump of impeachable offenses. Romney's vote seals Trump's fate in the annals of history as the only president to ever draw bipartisan support for removal of office. But Romney’s declaration from the Senate floor was much more than just a recitation of what he planned to do, it was an unmistakable rebuke of all his Republican colleagues who had abandoned their responsibilities as public servants for the comforts of the GOP's herd mentality. "Were I to ignore the evidence what has been presented and disregard what I believe my oath and the Constitution demands of me for the sake of a partisan end, it would, I fear, expose my character to history's rebuke and the censure of my own conscience," Romney said from the Senate floor. Wow.
No. He, and OJ, have been acquitted. That’s the word you are looking for and that history will use. Partisan acquittal, with a majority leader having admitted blatant pre-evidentiary bias, and with bipartisan dissenting votes. Not a great look. Congrats, I guess, to you and your (not mine) King
Interview with Romney. Pretty firm: How Mitt Romney Decided Trump Is Guilty Instead, I found Romney filled with what seemed like righteous indignation about the president’s misconduct—quoting hymns and scripture, expressing dismay at his party, and bracing for the political backlash. Romney confessed that he’d spent much of the impeachment trial hoping a way out would present itself: “I did not want to get here.” In fact, that was part of the reason he wanted former National Security Adviser John Bolton to testify about what Trump had told him. “I had the hope that he would be able to say something exculpatory and create reasonable doubt, so I wouldn't have to vote to convict,” Romney said.
