Yeah, that comment contradicts itself to begin with. He’s fine being out rebounded except if it’s second chance points aka defensive rebounding on our part or letting the other team hit the offensive glass.
OP is @Williamson, confirmed. But in reality, Hartenstein just isn't that good. Against Charlotte, he kept getting beat on the PnR and didn't really do much, even though his time was limited.
Nah, he can play. He's 21 years old though with not much experience, of course he's going to look bad sometimes.
I don't think we've been necessarily hiding him but he will have more opportunity to flourish now that capela is gone. If he can hit that wide open 3 like he did in the G league he can be a solid piece and even a good piece against certain teams.... his defensive issues are from a lack of experience, but he has talent. he can switch onto forwards and centers on the perimeters and his post D is sevicable. We still need a better 3 point shooting center.
Giving up offensive rebounds are demoralizing to a team after playing a good 20 seconds of defense, if you're not taking it back the other way that means an extra 10-12 seconds of even more output on the defensive end. That effort is eventually exhausted and the offense suffers from that wasted time and energy on the opposite end of the court. Especially if the opposition converts those second chance points consistently in tight games ala the Lakers game earlier this season.
It amazes me how when stars come back from time off by they get the shake the rust excuse, yet Harty is covered in rust. People also forget he is ONLY 21.
I agree. We haven't seen enough of him. He's solid in all the key things you need from a C. He just needs time to develop but the tools are all there.
People seem to forget that Hartenstein is only 21 years old. He’s as old as guys coming out of college. He has the perfect skill set to be the center in a lineup with Westbrook. He’s not good enough yet to be the starting center this season, but he may take a leap next year. Who knows. Again, he’s only 21. Capela didn’t look awesome until he was about 23.
I'm trying to understand the supposed benefit of "hiding" Hartenstein? It's not like the Rockets would be required to trade him if others had interest.
How would anyone even know? He never gets a friggin' chance. He makes one mistake and gets pulled. You put up 15 & 13 and then don't play for like a month, how the hell would D'Antoni expect him to come in and be lights out? Of course you're going to be rusty and not in a groove. The fact is, nobody gets better and develops the way D'Antoni is approaching things with Hartenstein. He has no chance right now, regardless of what his actual ceiling is.
MDA calls Hartenstein into his office. This is great for you Isaiah! from the Rio Grande Valley to starter on the Houston Rockets. You can see 1st hand what is possible with hard work. You should ask Rob how he did it before you go back.
When are we gonna stop hiding him guys? Does Mike know the trade deadline has passed and that it’s safe to play him now?
