I agree that optically it looks like we could have gotten more than just "role player" Covington + salary dump for "Allstar" Capela + 1st. Only thing I can think of is that if you know it, and I know it, I guess nba teams are smarter than we think and simply did not value Capela that highly either.

IF the Rockets want to have another Capela they can develop one....the same way we did with Clint. Hartenstein don’t move as fluid as Clint but can put up the same box score stats if he’s given the PT and touches. That being said, this team’s offense has shifted dramatically to the point where a legit center needing to play 30+ minutes isn’t necessary anymore, for better or worse.

I look at it this way: we’re doubling down on small ball by acquiring a version of Trevor Ariza. If you think of it like that then it makes getting Covington a bit easier to digest.

By praising Covington or convincing yourself to like this deal, can we not **** on Capela? Yes he had his limits, but everyone praised him for his motor in just running up and down the court. Shaq loved him for his duck in move to want the ball right after a block or rebound. We’re going to miss him on defense, that’s undoubtedly a fact. People saying he didn’t protect the rim will be proven wrong and already were when he was here.

Clint was a late 1st rounder, they do not have many of those.

Underrated post. This is a BoB ish overpay. Only two rounds in basketball, so Morey was more handicapped in what he can send out than BoB has been.

Capela + Nene + Green + a first for RoCo + Jordan Bell and a 2nd in 2024. Meh. It dumps 6 million dollars, probably more when they inevitably ship out Bell. BoB's transactions have been worse, but both sets stem from desperation. It's fair, even though Morey copes with financial constraints that BoB hasn't yet indicated that he even understands exist in the NFL.

Morey simply cannot be done dealing. He's got 5.8 in tax headroom now, and bodies like Bell, Chandler, iHart (if they're not going to play him), and Sefolosha (even if he's actually playing fairly well now). Plus, don't they have one final 1st to convey? They need another big. Could Bell be that guy?

No issues here with you. You haven’t posted anything that gave off a negative manner.

Have you listened to clutch’s latest podcast. He pretty much called the CC move. The frp might be unexpected but that’s hardly going to be the difference in outrage from him

Wow that's awful. 2 awful awful trades Morey has made this year. Yikes. The Tillman Rockets are ****ed. The Knicks will have it better once James retires.

and when he was picked he was raw. The point I was making is that the Rockets and Harden made Capela. They took a tall kid with athletic ability and molded him.

Yeah but I doubt Harden taught him how to rebound.

The rebounding and post game was hard work, Hakeem helped him out too.

people need to calm the hell down. The Rockets just made themselves into a prime player on the buyout market with the cap room as this post so obviously shows. More to come.

I like this trade. Net positive for the Rockets getting a great wing defender. Capela played okay but he isn't a difference maker.

After a tortured nights sleep i woke up feeling better about the clint for cov part of the deal but feeling worse about Tillman's willingness to continue trading away picks to save himself money. On some level thats actually pilfering the team for money and thats a sign of a bad owner. Its one thing to mortgage your future for players but mortgaging the future for lux tax savings is really bad.

again, I’m just pointing out that Capela and his ascension to being a capable starting center in the NBA was due to his development by the team, Harden and adding your point Hakeem. He’s not a special or unique specimen that has great instinctual skills coming into the nba
