I definitely don’t like small ball, I think it’s fool’s gold long term, but I don’t think Clint was untouchable. I really think we need a servicable big man for the rest of the season and long term we need a stretch 5
It’s better than not being able to space the floor at all. But you’re right, it’s inconsequential since Clint is (unofficially) no longer a Houston Rocket. At this point, I don’t care what he can or can’t do in the court.
but to me this trade isn’t a basketball move it’s a money move. You don’t go smaller in the middle of season because the big we had didn’t live up to be a superstar
It seems to be both a basketball and money move. Making sure to add in Nene was strictly financial lol. But honestly, that’s addition by subtraction.
Give up CC so we can dump Nene because CC can be replaced? Nah, that’s a money move. The make up part is irrelevant because CC isn’t a negative in view of the alternative.
Ita hilarious that you have people creating this narrative that its westbrook's fault clint was traded, when this was inevitable with or without cp3. They ran it back last year with cp3 and clint, and they both **** the bed in the playoffs. Did CP3OF forget that?
True. I guess I never really expected Clint to be able to shoot from there. I did hope for a midrange game similar to Nene. Sadly he still the same player offensively that he was 5 years ago. But that’s Atlanta’s problem now.
True victims are the fans who lose all hope if this fails because we'll have no picks for an actual rebuild and have to suffer mediocrity for another decade.
Let us know when that GS team plays this year in the playoffs. Oh wait they’re no longer around. Cool
You're so wrapped up in your desire to be right that you're still willing to call our second best player Westbrick even though that man has CLEARLY shown the willingness to change, and a desire to win here like few have. He's been phenomenal for us, yet you still feel good about insulting him. This trade had nothing to do with Russ..... and this trade most likely isn't done either.
Realistically Capela was our best trade asset other than Harden, if we were going to make any moves Capela was going to be part of it. It sucks to see him go but we do have a little more flexibility now to do other moves. I hope whoever does join our roster that we have enough time to mesh for the playoffs.
Rockets don't do trades without running it through Harden. I'm sure he gave the Covington trade his blessing. Harden never getting a ring falls on D'antoni and his style of coaching. We have so many talented players on the Rockets and the majority of the time they are just turned into spot up 3pt shooters (except WB who has the green light to do whatever). Yes it can win games when hot, but when cold, they seem lost. It hardly works during a deep playoff run. Also Thanks to D'antoni's coaching Harden has become very limited and predictable with what he does, most of the time he just jacks up 3's, or a layup. I mean he had such an array of moves several years ago. Going back to his midrange step back for example, would benefit him when the 3's aren't falling and would keep defenders on their toes. But No, it doesn't fit D'antoni's system. I haven't even been seeing that floater he perfected the other year. Unrelated, but the trade I want to see next is EG for Brook Lopez. Or some Center that can shoot 3's....Or try to get John Collins off the hawks and have him play center. Since D'antoni loves his small ball.
I would settle for a consistent jump hook A consistent layup A consistent floater If it is not a dunk.....it is a crap shoot Rocket River
