They waited too long and also Kroenke is a well known cheapskate.
If the owner was willing to pay or at least not rush they could have gotten much more value.
A Beasly alone as he is right now, could net them a first. Probably better than the one they got too.

I do not blame the GMs either for Houston or the Nuggets.
I know who is to blame, the owners.

Isn't the GS 2nd round pick in Dallas?

Didn't you hear, Morey has the green light to spend remember ... Ironically this trade at this point sure appears to save him a bunch of money for now ...

Sorry, just saw that 2024 second rounder changes everything .... NOT

Agreed. If you opt to run a professional sports team with P&L as your primary focus at the detriment of putting the best team on the court, you shouldn’t have purchased the team in the first place.

The second rounder we got is completely trash.
    Not even worth mentioning.

They don’t have to use all of it. The Rockets are currently $5.8M below the luxury tax line. So they could pursue someone like Markieff Morris, Jonah Bolden, Saric, Nerlens Noel, Kevon Looney, Aron Baynes, Larry Nance, John Henson, or Jahlil Okafor and still stay under the luxury tax line.

That 2nd round is probably going to be used as a sweetener in a couple of year to duck the tax again.

Nance , Henson and Okafor are so bad that they are better off the roster than on the roster.
Morris has actual trade value that we can't meet.
GSW won't give us Looney when there are eastern teams to send him to, they aren't stupid.

So our hope is the Suns.

At least 1 player liked it

Hoping he fills the void of Shane Battier and Trevor Ariza.

This is the second post i've seen mentioning a trade with the Warriors and saving them 30$ million, which is INCORRECT.

The warriors projected tax bill for the season is 9.3+ million due to them being 3.7 million over the tax & paying repeater tax rates. IF the warriors trade Looney, they would fall under the tax line, saving them 9.3+ million tax (in addition to tax revenue sharing for non tax teams like something under 3 million).

The Rockets will be 5.8 million under the tax. But will NOT be able to buyout players for anymore than what is left from their MLE, veteran exceptions or any other exception they currently have available. The only way that 5.8 million will be used entirely or considerably on one player is if the trade granted them a TE of that amount or larger.

Dude, not trying to get into it with you but I really don't understand that response. What are the "wrong reasons"? We could have done this exact deal and not given up the FRP. I haven't even commented on the on the court product. I respect anyone's opinion that thinks RoCo will help team because I too feel we needed to do something. I'm not sold on Covington, but I also know I'm wrong sometimes and I trust Morey knows more than me.

I'm assuming by "self explanatory" you mean the dramatic posters that are complaining. If they're complaining about being a worse team, sure take notes and if the team improves than sure, revisit it if you want, but if they're complaining about paying one of the highest prices in league history to dump 2 million bucks, I think that's warranted.

Oops seems like we stumbled under the luxury tax somehow. Thank god.

It could. I believe I saw we are 5.6 mil under currently. This has potential. I'm cautiously optimistic
