This is an interesting post. I’m trying to see it from your perspective or ‘what if a democratic president did something that I felt strongly was deplorable’. It’s thought provoking because I know it’s inevitable. The tit for tat will come around. And so what do you do? I don’t have an answer. I’m really not trying to be a dick. I honestly don’t know. I’d be disgusted with politics probably. I’ve been there before, almost there now. It kinda puts into perspective how helpless I am. For me, I think the whole angry, partisan mentally has reached a point that a 3rd party is needed. But it’s been tried before and always gets squashed. You and I have differing political views but I think we both can agree that each party has crossed the line. It’s insanity.
Na....If they did what Trump has done, I would want those people in jail. People like you love fawn all over a criminal.
One party has crossed the line and back and forth... and the other just took a nose dive over the edge and said screw it. Lets get in, and own it. The Democratic party has about half of it's members in office taking corporate money but the other half really is trying to make good changes for the electorate (even though you might disagree with them or think they are going too far they at least believe in SOMETHING). The Trumplicans are 100% all in though on the corruption & self dealing. There's not one single Republican who has shown they are in it for the right reason... not one. McCain maybe, but he is obviously gone. To me it's not really about just voting. I think it's going to take the young people mostly in this country really getting into activism & it also might take a economic collapse to get the billionaires like Gates, Bezos, etc. saying enough is enough although right now they are reaping the rewards of the cronie capitalism of course. However we might have to rely on some of them taking a stand, and putting their money into restoring some semblance of stability or else the corruption will eventually lead to the economy collapsing. I think someone like Bezos will look at his own self interest first, and finally realize it is in his best interest to help stabilize the country or we all are going down. If the consumers go down, he goes down. As long as the economy is seemingly good, I don't think much will change, and I don't think voting is enough because cheating is obviously going to be the story in 2020, and 2022. If you think Trump and the Republicans aren't going to play every dirty trick they can to cheat, you haven't been paying attention. Longterm though, unfortunately we have to have another event that changes the country like what happened during the great depression & New Deal or some sort of natural disaster. And no.. I'm not ROOTING for anything bad to happen. I hope it doesn't but I realize that it's the economic situation that keeps everyone in power looking the other way. I think a recession or depression has to happen in order to pull people off the sideline & wake everyone up to the damage that has been done to our environment, our economy, our societal norms, and our morality... which is at an all time low (hence sharp rise in suicides, and unnatural deaths with middle aged folks).
That post was dripping in sarcasm .... The fact that you believe Trump may remain POTUS beyond 2024 is absolute ignorance.
I think he'll kick and scream his way out the door and his base will cause some form of sporadic violence. . I know Bill Maher can be over the top many times but he shows his reciepts here on why he thinks it's a genuine concern not born out of thin air. What I fear the most with Trump is what happens when he sees that he's loosing on election night. Last election he already primed up his followers to believe that the election is literally rigged if he looses which he stated countless times. Presidential candidates don't claim the election is rigged days before the election. Trump had a cult following and him spamming rhetoric about rigged elections could be he priming the pump to have a strong base of angry zealots who believe he got cheated out do a second term. He's unique. Previous president's didn't use this type of rhetoric.
He voted against even opening an impeachment INQUIRY after Trump was found to have extorted a foreign government for help in the election. I know enough to know he’s no different even if he is a “problem solver” who works with Dems on policy that gets no press so it’s safe to work on without fear of a mean Tweet.
What do you think happens if Trump loses in Nov? Do you think he will congratulate his opponent, or do you think he will call the results rigged and declare the election was a fraud? Which do you think is more likely?

They banned me a week or two for defending myself just like you’re doing mate. They don’t play fair with conservatives around this forum.
Here's conservative republican Joe Walsh who is running in the primary against trump... talking with trump supporters in line to the most recent trump rally: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1224041444794564613.html
And this is precisely why I'm worried if Trump loses in 2020. His 35% base will take his word that the election was rigged at face value with no underlying evidence. They'll read a few reductive memes and have Hannity buy in to the narrative and that's all that is required.
Oh it's going to happen and there will be violence, I just hope it can be contained somewhat. I mean you have major league umpires calling for civil war for gods sake. And thats why I would rather a middle of the road candidate than somebody like Berny who would ratchet everything up by talking revolution of a different type.
Ya MAGA! Here is the question, are these people telling lies or they truly do not know the real answers to questions asked in the article. Either way, it does not give me confidence that democracy is working in this country.
Well his "revolution" is economic. He never advocates for violence and he doesn't make as wild claims of rigged elections on a daily basis. Sure, many of his supporters claim the DNC has a bias against Bernie but he's not going to push that narrative himself. That narrative for Bernie supporters comes from their own perception and not a demigod blabbering it out every other day at rallies and Twitter. Bernie was very polite and went to 20+ rallies to support Hillary. He conceded graciously. Major difference.
They used to have integrity, now they are mob run, and are all in Russia's pocket - most should be tried for treason. DD
