The fact that all countries put 14 days quarantine when they still test all returnees, tells you a lot about these test kits.

They must have a lot of false negatives, and /or are unable to detect the virus at the beginning of the incubation phase.
And these are the improved test kits we are talking about.

Things may get worse first before they get better but we will get through this.
    Take care and be safe!

Two videos with people from Wuhan giving their very different perspectives. The second video certainly gives a much more dramatic and worrisome perspective and shows why it’s been so hard to get information. The end of it was powerful and I hope that guy is safe.

Damn that’s crazy. The second video is seriously a concern, and that guy put himself in danger and possibly infected himself if what he is saying is true. I’m not Chinese but I didn’t see any reason to think he was making that up. Even some of the video clips with that dead guy, that’s scary as hell.

Stores selling out of masks in SF already.

everyone: a mask is great for a SICK person to keep them from spreading a virus. For healthy people, it is not so useful. Just wash your darned hands on the regular and don’t rub your eyes.

Damn gotta say this..the Wuhan accent is by far the most pleasing and nice sounding chinese I have ever heard.

Night and day with the Beijing who are like pirates with throat problems or the Taiwanese high pitched.screeching to the ears.
Wish all mandarin was spoken like this

Lelz, that is not a Wuhan accent, FYI.

This is standardized Mandarin, spoken in Beijing as well, the Beijinger just stress the ending a little more but it's the same Mandarin without a distinctive accent.

Taiwanese just have a different intonation, they stop after a couple words and then speak out the rest in a hurry. Rinse repeat.

Thanx for the information. This standard is much nicer to hear for me than these other accents then. No ah every 2 seconds, no huaarr, no extensive high pitches. In my opinion of course, to each their own.

20200201_184024_compress1.jpg I was just in a Home Depot in Clear Lake. This hole in shelving is where all the filters for N95 respirators are supposed to be. They have like three or four boxes of the most expensive replacement filters left. Normally, there would be dozens and dozens of boxes.

The hording has begun. That, or preppers planning (hoping) for the end of the world.

Another route of infection discovered: diarrhea

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ing-in-feces-may-reveal-hidden-risk-of-spread

During SARS, a whole apartment complex with hudreds of people was infected because of plumes from virus-containing diarrhea.

"Squat latrines, common in China, lacking covers and hands that aren’t washed thoroughly with soap and water after visiting the bathroom could be a source of virus transmission, said Nicholls, who was part of the research team that isolated and characterized the SARS virus."

Has anybody released a rate that the suspected cases turn confirmed?
