No one here cares that Lindsey was in on all of this also? While being on TV saying it was all a sham. Now having the ability to say no to a witness. Just like Nunes.

Unbelievable. What an absolute joke DC has become.

    Completely.

Also, I have found that when confronted with an argument he can not win, @Os Trigonum exits quickly stage right.

So it appears that they are going to wrap this up either late tomorrow or in the wee hours on Saturday, depending on how much of a temper tantrum that the Democrats want to have in the closing moments.

Impeachment closing arguments slated to begin Friday afternoon

Republicans are aiming to wrap up the trial proceedings late Friday evening or early Saturday morning, depending on how long Democrats drag out the final vote by offering amendments to the motion to move to a final vote, said Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso (Wyo.).

Under the organizing resolution adopted by the Senate last week, House impeachment managers and Trump’s defense team will each have two hours. Previous impeachment trials have allocated four hours for closing arguments.

“My understanding is essentially the closing arguments are going to be two hours for each side tomorrow afternoon, probably starting at 1 o’clock, until we’re finished with that. Then the vote would occur on the issue of witnesses,” Barrasso said at a brief press conference Thursday during a 20-minute break in the trial.

“If we are able to say, ‘No, we want to go right now to final judgment,’ then we would move in that direction and stay here until that work is decided and completed Friday evening,” he added.
Senate Republicans say they’re confident they will be able to defeat a motion to consider and debate motions for subpoenas of additional witnesses and documents.

So, the reporting that there was support for witnesses turned out to be just more fake news. In fact, it appears that there will be no additional witnesses. The vote for that should be late tomorrow afternoon or early in the evening. Then it is on to the final round of histrionics by the coup plotters, as their coup is quashed, live on public television, for one and all, and history to see in living color.

And then it is on to the Iowa caucuses, and the state of the union address and then forward to the election next November.

After reading the last 3 or 4 pages, I didn't take away that @Os Trigonum was making an argument. I thought he was trying to state his understanding of Dershowitz's argument.

I personally don't understand Dershowitz's argument, or rather the way I understand it, I don't agree with it. Frankly, he seems to be reaching or trying to make himself into a 'legal genius' by some of the things he's saying.

The one thing that's always been in question is motive. If you want to say that Trump only was interested in the investigations to influence the 2020 elections then I ask where is the proof? Don't get me wrong, it's easy to assume that. And of course any article you read out of the mainstream media reads ".....to dig up dirt and influence the 2020 election". If Bolton or anyone can testify that Trump told him he wanted the investigations to ***** over Biden in the 2020 election, that would be the nail in the coffin or smoking gun.

....Whoa!!! Rand Paul is on Fox News spilling the beans on the WB. He's repeating the stories that came out earlier in the week about his connections to Biden, organizing a meeting at the White House with Ukraine officials and DNC staffers. He brought up the story about the WB being overheard saying 'we have to take out Trump' with a buddy... Saucy!!

I explain the evidence for Trump's motive being purely for personal gain in these two posts:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php...nquiry-of-trump.301321/page-178#post-12823896

Another piece of evidence includes Trump not caring about any other aspect of Ukrainian "corruption" outside the realm of Crowdstrike and Biden.

This premise is bunk, if he had an inkling of thinking it was in the public interest he would have went through official channels.

That is exactly what he did.

Who determines “in the public interest”.

    His argument is absurd.

He must have been reading @Fantasma Negro posts.

He was making this claim a few hours earlier.

I don't know what repeatedly voting against hearing witness - unlike previous impeachments, including one he personally managed - is supposed to be called.

Other than block, when one side proposes calling witnesses, and another side repeatedly rejects it - what should it be called? Rejecting? Voting against? Voting no? I don't even understand the argument.

It's depraved and disgusting. This is fascism and dictatorship. And this is how it happens. Denial of truth in a thousand small ways over time. And then your country engages in genocide or starts burning up in wildfires.

I think a lot of you guys would have been decent contributors to the impeachment team. At the end of the day, you guys stayed engaged and make consistent arguments. Everyone should find something to be passionate about.

Ah.. I'll try to address this from my point of view. Full disclosure: I'm an idiot.

'They' or Trump did not send Rudy to "dig dirt" on Joe. There's the 'let's finish the sentence game' I was referring to. According to Rudy's interviews, Rudy went to Ukraine during the Mueller investigation after Trump was told that his campaign had been spied on and Comey dropped the details in the Steele dossier on him. According to Rudy, it was during this time that the Ukrainians brought up Burisma and that Joe B. had been bribed. This is Rudy's story and I'm relaying it because I know 99% of you probably have not heard it come out of his own mouth because he's primarily on Fox News.

So if your Trump, and you've been told the following:
    • There is a pee tape on you and your campaign is being investigated based on the pee tape. And you know you didn't get peed on, at least not on tape. You might be a bit pissed off about the source. I can say that I would.
    • Your advisers and their crew (Lev, for example) are telling you that your ambassador is bad mouthing you
    • There is reason to believe that the last two FBI directors falsified FISA warrants, presumably because they don't like you and want to take you down (Nunes memo)
    • There's a video of Joe, demanding that the prosecutor gets fired or he's pulling back the billion in aid.
The list is actually longer, but I'll stop there because I think it's sufficient to make a point that Trump is probably pretty phucking pissed off and doesn't trust the FBI, the CIA or the previous Justice Dept. I'm off the opinion that he would justified in being pissed off and distrustful. And so when he asks for an investigation its completely plausible that he's doing so to expose Joe and the DNC, who conspired to spread the Pee Tape. Not to specifically rig the 2020 election, as it's alleged.

If reasonable doubt plays into anything, there it is. I don't know if reasonable doubt is in play in a political impeachment. It's different. One thing that's certain is that an impeachment trial is definitely political. But I say all that to demonstrate that there is a possibility that the 2020 election may not have even been at the fore front of his mind. I'd say revenge and spite, more likely. Do you think Trump believed any what he was being told?

If you were Trump (oh yeah....that's right...) would you trust the agencies who've failed you or would you send someone you trust to look into things?

I'm not trying to excuse Trump's behavior as the President. I'm saying that this impeachment was weak from the beginning. And I'm saying the dude did get screwed over by the Obama holdovers that were in charge of the agencies. Even Mueller screwed him by interviewing for the FBI director job the day before AG Rosenstein (Obama holdover) appointed him 'Special Counsel'. Mueller had been asked by Rosenstein prior to the interview but didn't say a word to Trump during the interview. Trump was pissed when he heard the news the next day. Who wouldn't be? Especially when the whole investigation is based off a Pee Tape.

The vast majority of Americans in this country want more witnesses and Mitt Romney himself said he wants to hear from Bolton. How is that fake news? Lol no one buys your shtick anymore. Trump is done.
