Firstly: I hope Parsons is ok and this is nothing that causes ongoing concerns for him.

If one was to look at it highly cynically: Parsons is barely playing, even when healthy, and in the final year of a $25million contract. He isn't signing anything even remotely similar to that in the upcoming off-season, probably lucky to find a team to stick with at all?
If his (well paid?) lawyer is good enough, he could parlay a car crash into a lifetime payout based on current earnings.... He wouldn't need to be seriously injured for that to be the case, just to have suffered injuries that prevent him from performing at the level he could otherwise have performed at. Eg, if his back is hurt, and he is suffering ongoing headaches, he could parlay this into millions for life...

Lastly: I hope Parsons is ok and this is nothing that causes ongoing concerns for him!!

I don't have anything against Parsons. The lawyering up makes this seem very plausible.

I hate Parsons but wish him well. Nobody deserves to be injured by a drunk driver

Based on this photo alone. Assuming Portions was wearing seat belt. Absolutely zero chance he experience severe concussion/brain damage. Whiplash sure. Aches & pains sure. Same goes for torn labrum. Not buying that if he was strapped in. Appears to be low speed accident.

That's the question right there. And his case, if they're trying to build one, might hinge on it. What are the laws there around not wearing your seatbelt? In Washington State, for example, you lose the ability to sue for any injuries, as you were complicit (and the state provides all insurance, so it protects the state). But the complicit argument could come up anywhere, I would imagine.

Hopefully it's just the lawyer talking up the injuries for the case and they are not as bad as they say.

Hoping for the best for him and his loved ones. No one should have to experience this. Well, there were a few refs in 1997 in Salt Lake...well, nevermind :)

This is where Chandler considers writing a book. When he's ready, this could be his next chapter (nerdy see what I did there moment).

He'd be an interesting read, and for this to be the finality of his career, he could easily turn a book into a discussion about athletes and budgeting, self-care (emotionally/physically) and acknowledging that the NBA "stardom" window is relatively small unless you have exceptional health, thick skin to deal with owner/fan/player animosity of ridiculous contracts (hi, Jeremy Lin) and the aftermath of a career gone south.

He's got the money to do some good. Basketball is just not in the cards, unless he finds his inner "Derrick Rose." I don't think Chandler is built for that. Well, it's obvious, he chose Dallas over us. That tells me enough. KIDDING.

Heal up and perhaps sign a 10-day to finish on the court.

In other news, he seems completely fine, and just got engaged.

I regret claiming he would have a more successful career than Kawhi. The fame and Kardashian (Kendall Jenner) curse got to him.

The Chandler Parsons story is just truly wild.

He seemed like an afterthought at that press conference introducing him, Marcus Morris and Donatas Motiejunas. He was just this pimple-faced kid not really getting any questions.

He signs a dirt-cheap contract that the team controls for four years. While DMo and Morris went to the D-League, Parsons never did. He shocked everyone his rookie year. He becomes BFF with Jeremy Lin. Then they get Harden and he becomes a big part of Houston's young core. Then he's a master recruiter for Dwight. Hits 10 triples in one half. Pulls a fast one by getting the Rockets to let him out of his contract then going full heel in Houston by accepting a ridiculous contract from Dallas, then later an even more obscene offer from Memphis. Becomes a huge sex symbol, dates a Jenner. Makes $130-$150 million. Gets injured and he's out of the league.

Pretty amazing story how this role player for Florida became all that.

You couldn't write it, no one would believe it. But he and Dwight had the same agent I believe. Letting Chandler out of that deal is probably what got Dwight here.

You are correct. Otherwise, the Rockets would have kept Chandler on for 1 more year on his rookie deal. It made no sense for them to let him out early when you could keep him on a cheap contract and utilize his skills or trade him and get some key pieces

White privilege.;) Oh to be young, good looking, and above average at pro basketball.

Edit: And to be the only white player DD didn't like immediately. Probably because there was a whiter guy on the team.

The shitty things Parsons has done is all bball related. Cant separate bball from real life?

You think him turning down a bball club is enough to warrant karma bad enough to get hit somebody DUI and end his career?
