No , they don't equate success …. but neither does throwing away your ability to improve your roster and throwing away all those assets to duck the tax crippled their ability to improve. Harden , Westbrook , Capela , EG …. that's the only 4 starting quality players on this roster - Tucker should be a supersub and House a backup. The rest of the roster is made up of 9 NINE dudes on minimum contracts.
If testing harden is the answer then the question must be what is the dumbest thing the rockets could do ? Am I right
Some of us are getting old. Harden is in a funk for whatever reason and I've never seen a Rockets this good since Olajuwon days. There's vastly no team gameplay plan because the coach has an incentive to get fired rather than quit... Rockets need a new coach.
I'm no GM but I'm sure those moves or lack of moves were made for a reason from a business standpoint. Some of those birds rights players you mentioned were declining or older players and simply not worth negotiating for more dollars. Remember Ariza signed a huge contract with the Suns, which would've impacted the cap. If I recall correctly TPE are for luxury tax teams and they do not count against the tax. Some of those deals also require teams to absorb contracts for a higher percentage plus cash and might not have been beneficial from a finance standpoint. If the number don't work and Include low or diminishing returns then it's not worth pursuing and those dollars are maximized elsewhere. What I question and grow more an more weary of is Morey and the executive decisions on personnel. Reminder that guys like Covington, Lowry, Nicolas Batum were either released or traded for nothing. A Second Rounder was given to Portland which they used to get Will Barton - yes that same Will Barton wing type player we need. Mutiple draft failures through the years (Parsons, Zhou, Dekker). All this combined with the over reliance on 3's due to an obsession with analytics and a team built with specialists and 2 superstars instead of ball players. Since 2007 - 2 conference finals to show for and first or 2nd round exits. As I said before maybe this window/era 2015-2020 rox is the new version of the 2000-2005 Kings. Simply coming up short. Good but not great. But as a true fan I still believe we can beat anyone.
If we're trading him, we're trading him to the most shitty team so we can get the max amount of lottery picks. Also, I'm pretty sure Tilman is just in it for the money at this point. Even though blowing it up after another disappointing playoffs might be the correct move, Tilman would rather have us be at 6-8th seed every year than completely tanking. But like I said in another post, it's entirely possible to rebuild while not tanking (still getting a low playoff seed) like what OKC/Memphis is doing. It entirely depends if the GM can pull it off.
See that is the problem Once he is on their team . . .they are not in the lottery . . .we are Rocket River
Dudes a high roller apparently. A real professional. They never let their fandom get in the way of making money.
they think rebuilding will be so easy...most of these fools talking about rebuilding u won’t even see on here once the rebuild actually starts...they’ll dip and no longer care about watching some trash lottery bound squad most teams struggle to draft a guy that can even reach Steve Francis level...to draft a guy that can reach Harden’s level is basically like winning the lottery 1 playoff series win in 17 YEARS!! Almost 2 decades! but yes, let’s rebuild with Tilman...I’m sure he’ll have the patience to go through many years of garbage teams in the lottery as the Rockets lose revenue and TC looks like it does at tipoff for the entire game
Michael Jordan took 7 years before he got his first ring. I’m not comparing JH to MJ, but they are both once in a generation kind of player. I would imagine some fans were probably screaming to trade Jordan because they didn’t think he could win with his style of play. We don’t need to trade JH, we need a better coach and the owner needs to stop being cheap and sign some real supporting casts. House is bad and was bad in the playoffs last year, not sure how he got that contract. Rockets always try to find the bargain deals either overseas or G-league, they might find one once in a blue moon, but there is a reason why those players are in the G-league.
If we're trading Harden we better get back at least 2 all-star players or potential all-star players. Like you better give me Tatum and Brown plus picks or something of that nature. That being said, it's this: To MDA's credit, his hands-off approach unleashed this next level of Harden but it's time to find someone that can help Harden refine his game even more. Morey also needs to pivot away from these 1-2 dimensional players. Sure it's cheaper and slightly easier to find these players but Harden needs players that can do more so that he can do less.
Imo who I would make available for trade house, capela, Tucker and maybe Macklemore since he’s hot right now.
$8050. $15050 total return on $7000 bet. Nice win, but it still doesn't make you an expert on roster moves. Trading harden right now would be beyond disastrous. People don't realize what they are asking for.
