You can kind of measure the value of a player based on this question. Would teams trade for LeBron, Harden, Curry, Durant, etc.? If any of them were put on the trade block, teams would be lining up in a second to acquire them. But what about Westbrook? Would any team take him? And if so, who? And could you get any decent return?
Yes, a team would take him. He will not be getting traded, so I do not wish to spend time conjuring up scenarios.
Let's see what comes out of this expirement for at least one full season. Maybe the stars align and they reach the finals.
Definitely. He's not the most efficient scorer but he grabs rebounds, runs the court like a cheetah, dishes out assists, puts points on the board, he's a big name, and he's just overall entertaining to watch. Players like Westbrook aren't easy to find. I think he's extremely underrated on this board.
There are a ton of irrelevant teams who would love a bankable all-star. No doubt he is tradeable. But I can't see any possible scenario where he gets traded this season.
Everyone is tradeable. Even the "unmovable" Ryan Anderson& Chris Paul got moved. (Remember that? "We're gonna have to give up 2-3 picks to move Anderson!" "No one is touching Chris Paul!") Yes, some team would take him. No, you won't get a good return (and might have to attach something to him as well).
I think he has fully re-couped his perceived value with his play as of late. Not only do i think someone would trade for him, I think we would get a star package for him. He's going nowhere even though he isn't the right fit next to Harden. This is our core for the season. Hopefully Morey makes a few smaller moves that solidifies the 3/4/5 depth situation.
Elton Brand is a GM. NY is still NY. There are options. Not many. It doesn't help that nobody wants to play wit him either. LeBron traded him off his all-star team didn't he? Lulz.
he could be traded tommorow for like a 2 frps and a 2 solid players return will he be traded i doubt but anything is possible
I don't think many people have looked at what % of the salary cap he is. It would be hard for any team to absorb that without giving up mass assets. He may be a bankable all-star but he's getting paid like a James Harden.
Maybe for next season we get a non small ball loving coach and move Westbrook for a 6'8 all star. No idea who that could be though....
I believe there would be more than a few teams lining up for WBs services... At min he would be a gate draw - and his acquisition would create excitement among most any sub .500 team's fan base... Plus you cant discount what crap contracts teams are eager to get out from under - and would happily do so for a proven commodity like WB... but he aint goin nowhere - thankfully!
Knicks, who are so desperate after the immediate failure of last free agency, would definitely trade all of their assets for a superstar.
