Bellaire the private city is nice but just west is the bario, so while this does not seem like something other than a reckless act I was surprised to hear about all the issues this past year. I went to Lamar over 20 years ago and when we would go spring our buddies from Bellaire the school was on complete lockdown all the time I can not imagine it being less now. Hell at my old school a magnet student transfer was gunned down a couple of blocks from campus in River Oaks because he was mixed up in a gang. Considering the taxes paid in these neighborhoods by property owners I can not imagine the magnet programs will last
