Those of us who are only 1-2 generations removed from poverty often feel "guilty" for our success while members of our extended family struggle financially. Some of these family members will attempt to "weaponize" our "guilt" in order to use us a walking ATM's. Saying no can be really difficult when the amount of money they are asking for we blow on frivolous purchases. That's the reason most of us try to keep a fair amount of standoff distance from these family members and leave (or avoid) our hometowns.

Reading this made me think of that playoff series we had against them in the first round 2 years ago. Jimmy looked just as helpless as anyone else trying to guard Harden. It was a sign of just how far harden had come because back when jimmy was on the bulls and harden was with mchale, jimmy had some good games defending him. But that whole wolves series, James made Jimmy look like an ordinary defender.

Perhaps as often does for defensive stoppers like Jimmy, as their offense expands, it comes at the detriment to what made them great on the other end. Few can maintain both. Even Kawhi looks way more human on defense now than he did on the spurs, when he didn't have to generate as much of the offensive load.

I am pretty sure he said the reason he didn't want to play for Houston is everyone he knows asking for tickets and other things all the time.

I was referring to his biological family that I believe still resides in the Houston area.

"Despite this Butler maintains a close relationship with his parents, saying, "I don't hold grudges. I still talk to my family. My mom. My father. We love each other. That's never going to change."

well this is kind of odd then

It’s common knowledge harden is the most unstoppable offensive player in the nba. Teams are creating new defensive schemes to stop him

You're right. It's not possible that Jimmy may have been attempting to keep his personal life personal or that he hasn't yet fully dealt with being disowned by his mother. He also has no other biological family members besides his parents.

They're playing well but they are no threat to win a title. Saying choosing Miami over Philly or Houston is a bad move from a championship angle is a perfectly valid criticism.

I'm assuming you are under the age of 30. If so, that'd explain quite a bit.

That explains a lot. As you mature, hopefully you'll become more sensitive to the experiences of those around you.

You are right, he doesn't. That doesn't mean we have to like his fraudulent ass, either though.

I doubt he’s scared. It’s more likely that he wants some distance from them to avoid constantly being bothered for money. If you don’t have under achieving family members it’s hard to understand.
