No it doesn't. You know how many rounds the Baseball draft is and how many players don't go in the 1st or 2nd round? Astros will be fine.
For the record, I don’t disagree with anything you are saying about elite players coming from the early rounds of the draft. I also completely agree that today sucks as an Astros’ fan. I just believe that if there is one sport where you can overcome losing early draft picks, it’s MLB. One, because it’s a 40-round draft, and two, most players take two or three years to reach the major leagues anyway.

If you look at where elite players come from, the numbers are likely even more skewed towards the top few rounds.
It's probably better for them as well. There won't be any accusations they were still somehow involved with the team, and I expect since neither was directly involved some other team will eventually take a chance and hire them.

Yep....and you are talking bout only 2 years of top 2 pick. They have players who already in the system plus you still have other picks. You rely on scouting. They will be fine. You remember, there were 2 years the Astros didn't sign their #1 picks after Springer and Correa were picked in the 1st...years prior? They also had a #1 flame out.
Yes, first two rounds are important... but you're sorta reaching on some of those (Biagini? Cameron?). Organizational depth remains the most important aspect. While having those 4 picks over the next two years increases their chances of getting an everyday player with one of them... it doesn't mean a good front office can't obtain organizational depth and viable players with the rest of their picks, as well as the supplemental ones, provided they do their homework. It is unfortunate because all in all (minus Appel/Aiken), the Astros have hit on all of their early picks in some shape/form.
They were already going to struggle to extend the window due to payroll constraints, win-now deadline trades, and smaller signing pools. This dramatically exacerbates those problems. They have 2 first round picks in the system (Whitley and Lee). Their farm is ranked in the middle of the pack. I hope I’m wrong but history would indicate the Astros window will be closed for awhile once they lose Verlander/Correa/etc in 2021.
So the Yankees and Red Sox got dinged for this in 2017 and MLB basically said to everybody to cut it out. Did the Astros get hit so hard because it went halfway into the 2018 season, after the MLB announcement? If they had stopped BEFORE the MLB edict, they would have been slapped on the wrist? (Apparently they haven't been doing anything since mid 2018 according to the report)
Because they've promoted or traded the others for viable pieces... can't really fault them for that. . See above... but I thought it was actually on the rebound, higher than previous years, before they made the Greinke trade... its cyclical. That also presumes no other trades or acquisitions happen between now and then. They have supplemental picks this year and another one next year if Springer leaves... or they trade Springer at the deadline (or hell, now) for younger pieces should they really intend to blow this thing up (including possibly trading Verlander/Greinke). The Astros makeup going into 2016 is a far cry from where it is now.... that much can change in 3-4 years, depending on how much your owner is willing to spend and what kind of GM you have.
