There’s nothin wrong with Harden. He’s asked to drop 50 every night so his team can win. He has no coaching and his 2nd star is one of the least efficient players ever. He’s bound to have some bad games.
He's not asked to do this, he chooses to. I'm sure he could sacrifice his stats so other guys can get their confidence. But that's not Harden. If we're up by 20 he's still chucking up 3's
LOL, you obviously never played or coached sports. You dont change your system to help role players feel better about themselves, whether you are up or playing from behind. Whole lot of crazy takes triggered by ignorance.
I'm not sure you've watched sports ever in life. It's called instilling confidence & trusting your teammates. Look up Michael Jordan & Hakeem Olajuwon
So you want harden 2 stop scoring a sht ton of points to get us a win, but instead waste valuable possessions to set up his teammates and hope they dont brick themselves out of a game? Asking a role player who scores like 5-10 ppg, to score more cause u "trust" them? Dude stop hating on harden for tryin to carry all these players. Harden doesnt ball hog, get that that sht in your head cause u dont seem to b watching the games enough. There only how much patience and time harden has during the game to set people up to score until he will take matters into his own hand. If u have issues with the system, u should focus your anger on the hc. Harden is doing his job, and already feedin people wide ass shots.
No, I want a offensive system where role players find easy bucket opportunities besides just standing in one spot and waiting for someone else to dribble the ball for 20 seconds. I want movement. I want role players to cut to the basket, set screens that aren't just meant to allow for switches so Harden can iso a weaker defender. This is a chicken or the egg dilemma. Which came first? Harden having shitty role players to the point where he needs to have a 50% usage rate and spam dribble the ball on one spot of the floor for 20 seconds every other possession or Harden having a massive usage rate and spam dribbling the ball on one spot of the floor for 20 seconds every other possession led to role players not gaining confidence in themselves and not having a feel for the ball to not gain some rhythm along with not having any practice sessions where they practice off ball movement. I'm afaird the "system" is basically: I'm a head coach and James Harden has so much pull in this organization that if I attempt to implement a new system that doesn't have Harden having a 40% usage rate, I'm getting the boot. That's the system. Look at happened to the last teammate who complained about Harden just standing around when he didn't have the ball in his hand (CP3). Harden created this absurd hyperbolic version of Morey Ball system.
So which team runs the offense you want and has done better than us in the playoffs the last few years?
We haven't had this much success in the playoffs untill CP3 showed up. CP3 was a personality on the team that matched Harden's ego but with the positive traits of accountability especially on defense. Hence why our defense in the 2018 season was the best defense we've witnessed by far in the Harden era. Also on offense, CP3's style of ball dominance was prone to less offensive stagnation as when he dominated the ball, he would probe the defense by constantly moving around the half court mid range area while dribbling the ball which forced his teammates to not stand on spot and attempt to move in sync with CP3 while he was controlling the ball. CP3 would also attack the on picks more often than Harden where he more than often uses picks to just allow the defenders to switch and stay stationary on one spot on the court and go iso. I think the type of offense that CP3 brought prevented less long droughts because it forces teammates to move off ball which allowed for more opportunities for defenders to make mistakes and allow easy scoring opportunities such as back door cuts. His leadership style brought forth more accountability to Harden by challenging him on moving on transition defense and not standing around. He also influenced Harden in the off-season he got traded to get much leaner and why in the 2017-2018 season he was probably the best conditioned shape in his career.
The Rockets offense has consistently been elite. There is nothing really wrong with the system and changing it now wouldn’t be smart. The bigger issue is personnel related and defensively, and no James Harden isn’t the problem defensively. The Rockets lack the wings they need and they also downgraded defensively at point guard. A long defensive wing and a solid defensive 4/5 would make the Rockets very hard to beat.
There is a problem , if the system needs you to pay 200 million for high end players but you can only afford to do 120 or 124. (whatever current CBA is) If you are a contender, you should be prepared to go over the tax, but still keep some the picks to get players on cap friendly rookie contracts. We are doing neither things really well atm.
That's interesting. So which team runs the offense you want and has done better than us in the playoffs the last few years?
That is a valid take, I also think it spelled doom for Chris as Harden did not want to be held accountable one year later, at least by someone who wasn't clearly better than him. He was uncomfortable with this thought. Unfortunate.
The Rockets lack of draft picks has nothing to do with the system they run, nor does ownerships unwillingness to go over the tax to maximize a short window have anything to do with the system they run under MDA.
