I just keep picturing Bill O'Brien's angry face pointing at a white cat looking back with a WTF look. In this day and age, if you say something in public, a camera is pointing at you.
Brian T. Smith trying to get on OB's bad side again Brian T. Smith: Bill, in New England they used to joke, you know "teapot", you'd had Hard Knocks, you've been through a lot of this stuff before. What's it like when you see that video, it appears, and you're forced to address it during a playoff week? BOB: Yeah I apologize for it. Like I said, just inappropriate comments and like I said I apologize for it, and I'm sorry it happened.
The question I have is whether the fan was directing his comment toward O’Brien specifically or to the team in general. If it was directed to the team rather than just the coach, I’d have a lot more respect for how he responded in defending his players.
Maayne, I like that !! He added a "f*** you" too !! The passion is nice (if done sparingly) and my respect for Bill has increased. His players/staff probably liked it. He needs to translate the same heat to KC and other future opponents through his game plan. The fan will respect Bill too if the Texans win.
good for him! I see no reason why people that feel the need to berate the players or coaches don't get a taste of their own medicine from time to time. he was clearly frustrated by the half his team played and was not having any of that
I would prefer a "You suck" contest between head coaches in lieu of a coin toss in all future NFL games.
I'm old school southern boy/retired AF officer and now a tech exec; BOB should be reprimanded for this profane outburst. When you're a public figure and in a leadership position, you have to have more self-control. You have to let that stuff roll off your back and focus on your job, not some random fan. Maybe if it was one FU as he walked into the tunnel, it would be no big deal, but he had a full on tirade. I was initially excited when we hired Bill, but have steadily been more and more disappointed with his play calling, clock management, decisions, etc. Every now and then, he surprises me and I think maybe he's made a breakthrough (before another relapse), but I really think its our players that are the difference makers.
When you are down 31-3 to a team that sucked with a QB making his first road start you can't be shocked when people who pay a lot of money for tickets are pissed off. This is another example of BOB losing his cool and we wonder why he always botches clock management and challenge situations in games.
Why not credit Bill again for being a good leader, thus, "leading" his players toward having self control? Bill is under 100x more pressure than the players. It's understandable he'd be more triggered.
I think I like BoB more now than I ever, ever have. Some of you white collar folks in here make me chuckle. This is literally how most arguments I have ever seen in my years of locker rooms and break rooms/smoking areas go. Quick explosion to get frustration out of your system and then back to normal. If you don’t use f*ck as a describing verb then I don’t want to drink with you.
You just compared your "blue collar" self to a multi millionaire. That has to be the funniest **** I've read here in a while
I seriously just can’t stop laughing at this! God it’s so funny I’ve watched it 6 times now and I’m still laughing!
