A deal that the Ayatollah robbed us blind, laughed behind our backs and still get their nuclear warheads?

No one seems to pay attention.

    Prior to the missile strike:
    - "Dehghan said Iran would retaliate directly against US "military sites."
    - He told CNN that reprisals would come from Iran itself, not its allied militia in the region.
    - "The only thing that can end this period of war is for the Americans to receive a blow that is equal to the blow they have inflicted. Afterward they should not seek a new cycle."
    - "Let me tell you one thing: Our leadership has officially announced that we have never been seeking war and we will not be seeking war."
    https://edition.cnn.com/2020/01/05/middleeast/iran-soleimani-khamenei-adviser-intl/index.html

    Then they did surgical strike.
    - "...which apparently was precise enough to hit individual buildings.
    - "Some of the locations struck look like the missiles hit dead center," says David Schmerler, an analyst with the Middlebury Institute."

How so? Do you even know the terms of the agreement? The terms had Iran agree to IAEA snap inspections with only a 24 day notice.

And our own intelligence officials testified that Iran abided by the terms on their end.

If they hit dead center it is like playing "pin the tail on the donkey" and hitting dead center. Literally no missile that Iran owns fired from Iran can hit a pinpoint a couple of feet in diameter. They are balistic not guided. Iran's best balistic missile has a 500 foot CEP which means that 50% of the time, you can expect the missile to land somewhere within a target circle with a radius of 500 feet.

I'm impressed. You may have noticed that I often beseech members to broaden their news sources (I don't think "beseech" is an exaggeration in many cases). I read a broad selection of news sources, myself. While you are getting news from the "hard Right" and what you likely consider the "hard Left," Tucker Carlson on Fox spews pure nonsense 95% of the time. Far too often dangerous nonsense, because some actually believe what he's saying. In this case, he's disagreed with trump. That doesn't change the fact that he's one of their most prominent extremists, who delights in spouting off racist, bigoted nonsense at the drop of a hat, in my opinion.

Not everyone on Fox is like him, thank god, but arguably the best non-partisan newsman there has left, Shepard Smith. A great loss. I watch some of the news coverage on Fox. Know thy enemy. I wish they weren't a propaganda arm of the GOP, but sadly, they are and promote the most divisive widely seen "news" coverage in this country, in my opinion.

You might consider adding some "middle of the road" sources. I think CNN largely fits there. Too "Left" for you? You might find their International CNN site interesting. It's easy to find and is a bit different. You should also consider trying the BBC. Their news coverage is excellent, often giving a quite different slant to the news than you might see from the ones already mentioned here. Just a thought. (I read the New York Times online, but I know they are portrayed as "the Devil" by those on the Right. A gross exaggeration, in my opinion, but there you are). I wish more did what you are doing. Kudos.

If any US soldiers died, then we would probably be at war right now.

That's why Iran didn't try to kill any soldiers.

Trump mentions it during his address to the nation. I thought we were still working on them but he made it sound like they are combat ready now.

    No.

Iranian assets were unfrozen because Iran agreed to a deal that would cease their attempts at weapons grade uranium enrichment along with allowing IAEA inspectors to make sure they comply.

If Kim hypothetically agreed to terms of allowing international nuclear arms inspectors, Trump would also unfreeze their assets by lifting their sanctions and you would proceed to suck his dick for it.

I thought having the Joint Chiefs of Staff standing behind him spoke volumes. Mr trump doesn't feel "tough" himself, being an egotistical, insecure blowhard, so he had to array a line of the highest ranking military officers we have behind him as a prop. Sad to see, and not what has traditionally been the way presidents make speeches of this nature. No, not at all. The only time you typically see one of the Joint Chiefs standing with the president is when he is announcing someone like Colin Powell, for example, as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of our armed forces.

Solemani....2nd in command in Iran is dead. Iran lobs ineffectual missiles back in response and says it's done.

And somehow in your mind, Trump is weak?

Iran is acting from a position of fear. Fear #1...first and foremost...is they will lose power and be overthrown. Avoiding war with the United States is priority #1 to achieve this. They remember a guy named Hussein and another guy named Gaddafi.

The "hawks" do indeed love to see a major terrorist leader killed. Most people do.
As for a "takeover" of the Middle east...get out your tin foil hat.

Impeachment is a joke and the outcome a predetermined win for Trump. He doesn't need a distraction.

Didn't Johnson give up his 2nd term mostly BECAUSE of the Vietnam war?

Also pretty sure G HW Bush didn't get a 2nd term after Gulf War 1.
