Because he is on a team with KAT who doesnt play D. He has a bad plus minus because he plays the most minutes on a bad losing team. Every wing needs a center who can actually help. Defense is a team thing. Adding him to PJ and Clint would take our team to the next level. Could really gut out possessions late game.

We need long perimeter defenders who are a black hole on offense. A catch and shoot SF/PF would do wonders. Covington can also grab boards. PJ doesnt need to play 40 minutes a night.

dude has no idea what he's talking about. all he does is talk about of his ass. the eye test shows Covington is one of the better defenders and the league and many defensive metrics support that. there's countless articles that break down his impact on defense.

A random no one on cf's says the opposite? lol

dont get me wrong i would love to add him to what we have already, but we cant add him without giving up key pieces. so, he isn't worth it IMO. jeff green can be had for cheap if he is willing to come here and can spell PJ. i seriously doubt we will be able to do any better given our lack of assets and cheap owner.

you guys have nothing but excuses for this poor metrics. please show me video of covington locking down lebron, AD, kawhi, PG, luka, or anyone we will have to go through en route to a title. he is nothing worth giving up key pieces for.

By your logic, Covington is elite defender only with Embiid (I disagree, RoCo was just as elite with Minny before leg injury, which he is now 100% just a month ago) then Covington can return to his defensive dominance if paired with defensive center like Capela.

Covington is a good on ball defender but absolutely elite zone/off ball defender. Aided by work ethic and BB IQ combined with active strong hands for steals/deflections, rim protection and ability to defend 1-5 due via lateral agility and wingspan.

Jeff Green is Thabo/Clark replacement. A rotation piece.

What Rockets need is to upgrade House's spot. A legit 3-D starter.

If Harden was surrounded by 4 long athletic switch defenders who can create for themselves as well as other teammates then doubling Beard would be death for opposing teams.

    Dream casting:

    Harden/Rivers/Clemons
    EGo/Russ
    Covington/Josh Jackson
    AG/Tucker/Bruno
    Giles/Lob Williams

    I don’t get the fuss.

Gary seemed like a nice kid but imo he’s not an nba level player.

I’m sure he’ll get another shot either here or somewhere else but it will be non guaranteed wherever he goes.

He’s hit some threes but I’ve seen enough in the limited time he’s gotten as well as summer league, and the kids not and nba level player.

Sure it’s saving money so thats 90% of what clutchfans will talk and moan about tilman being cheap.

but this is not a loss at all he’ll never be a rotation player imo and I’m not sure he’s even an end of bench guy.

he should go overseas and make some money. The nba is not for him.

There’s certain guys that are on teams for leadership, sharing wisdom, and are uplifting team mates providing a great atmosphere for the locker room. The rox have 2 of them in Thabo and Chandler. Lakers employed the same concept with Jared Dudley and Quinn Cook. Both have playoff experience and played on some great teams.

He is very inconsistent. He seemed destined to be good in a few games last year when he took over for Melo and was creating. Buzz for couple weeks but he fizzled out. Not sure what the issue is. He seems passive now and just lethargic. Not a lot of skills either. Not a 3 and D guy and can’t create on offense.

none of that matters because we can't get him without trading clint or PJ and house or something

we need to focus on who we CAN get. i still say jeff green is a great option for 15-20 minutes a game.

it already worked ... people are really blaming harden and dantoni for Adam Silver rigg job...as per their work effort and basketball play on the hardwood both of these deserved their rings... these 2 dismantled FULLY HEALTHY warriors dynasty - the best team ever...you can not be blamed for things out of your control.....

do these people want Tilman to pay the refs under the table? would then harden dantoni and tilman become the goats?

see how absurd it is to blame them for adam silver and zebras machinations

As much as I love to pile on Tilman for his obvious money-saving maneuvers, this one doesn't really get my jimmies rustled. Meh. Clark has been meh this year. Not bad, but I can see why we'd do this, if we think a buyout market will emerge with a better player.

From GC's perspective, he's probably better off going to a bad team where he can get more playing time. Because he's not cracking the rotation here.

this fuss has nothing to do with the player. It’s clearly just another attempt by our owner to save money even though he said he would go all in this year.....

Of course he is. He's the future of this team. Everybody knows that (mostly because I tell everybody).
