Its just odd that we have to live in some fantasy land about Westbrook.

We can root for him, we can enjoy his contributions, we can celebrate him....

But at the same time, we can be real. He isn't very good and this was a terrible trade.

I only bring up these stats because YOU did. Remember? I'm the guy that is just simply looking at win loss records, I'm that guy. You were the one putting so much on stats like Net Rating. Me? Well, I realize it can be wrong and that it is also going to change all throughout the year too.

Umm, yes, your team oriented stat still doesn't tell the complete story. You literally sitting here thinking PJ Tucker isn't valuable to the team because of a stat, not me.

I'm the one looking at these stats and going...obviously Westbrook and Tucker are more valuable to the team than this stat implied and that this stat is wrong here.

CP3 was great, no one is denying that. All I said it isn't fair to compare that year to Westbrook just like it would not be fair for me to take old Westbrook ratings and insert them into the conversation. It's pointless any ways isn't it? We are talking about the now.

Even if the Role players are better this year...as @icewill36 mentioned, the team is fully together finally. Ego has played what...one game with Westbrook? NBA.com's net rating for players is also influenced by who these guys are playing with.

I mean, when you first brought this up, wasn't Westbrook's rating something really bad? Then, as the team gets healthier and more chemistry is added and more of an identity his rating goes up?

It is amazing to me that Westbrook isn't given the same leash or leeway that any other player would get in this spot...coming off an injury and on a new team and not even half the season completed and we are already writing him off? Really?

 

35 year old P.J. Tucker on the downside of his career on the last year of his deal making 8 million dollars and providing a +3.9 net rating for a +5.0 net rating team is understandable. He is overplayed and over taxed for his capability. A player this old and limited being one of our least impactful players should not be some big surprise or lead you to believe a stat is flawed.

31 year old Westbrook making 38 million dollars(41, 44 and THEN 47 after this year) who has shown consistent decline over the last couple of years, providing a +3.8 net rating is not something we should feel good about. It should be a huge worry.

The pushback on Westbrook is no different that with Lin and the LOF invasion. The pro Westbrook contingent has mostly ignored the realities of Westbrook. And the people who like to remain in reality don’t want to hear about how great Westbrook has been when he clearly has not been great over the entirety of the season. It seems as if you have come around on this idea by the last line of your post. There may be some legit excuses, but you can’t just explain away all his poor play on injury recovery and new teammates. Especially when some of the poor aspects of his play have been part of his game since his rookie year.

Yes it’s possible things improve. Yes it’s possible we could become better than we were with Paul. BUT you would have to be living in fantasy land to ignore the reality of his decline and the overall poor play thus far. And recognize that those possibilities of improvement probably aren’t very likely based on that.

 

I bet you any money you wont find a single post on cf where @jordnnnn and @YOLO admitted they were wrong on anything.. actually this is pretty much a characteristic of most posters lol
