Actually no........ the land was Christian before it was Muslim as Christianity existed before Islam. Islamic Turks took lands that were Christian and appeals were sent to Pope to prevent further loss of Christian lands and to take back the lands lost. There were no good guys in the conflict..... one was a greedy groups/religion hell bent on expansion and pillaging......... the other was a greedy/religion hell bent on taking back what was taken from them and pillaging the riches included. So you can choose to take the "pity the Muslims" position or the "pity the Christians" position but they both were terrible and they both ultimately only cared about wealth and power. The Christians get at least a little credit for being open minded on the topic but that isn't saying much.
I don't want to give or take credit from any of them. It was the medieval period of human history. Basically everyone everywhere was either dirt poor and farming to survive or they were being rounded up into armies by a religious person to wage a war against other people with the promise of glory and wealth and divine favor. None of them were holy in their actions AS A PEOPLE GROUP.
He was a very polarizing figure. He was very much liked by some but also hated and feared by others. My wife's family is from Iraq and still has aunts and other family there. She said the feeling in Iraq and a lot of the middle east is that he was respected because of his power and his viciousness but he was also seen as a murderer.
As a side note........ I am not from the Middle East. I have been to the Middle East a number of times and love the culture and history and most Arab people I have met. As someone not from the Middle East I am certainly not an expert on the mindset and culture. However, being married to an Assyrian and having her family still live there has taught me one thing.............. The West really truly does not understand the Middle East, and that goes for both liberals and conservatives. Over time, I have learned a lot from my wife's side, and how they view the world and the US versus the Middle East.
Is an Assyran girl a girl from Syria with a nice ass ? Thanks, for sharing that though. It sheds some light on your unique perspective and certainly qualifies your opinion on things in the region above mine.
Haha No Assyrians were basically Sumerians. They are Christian. Many of them have left the Middle East. They originally are from what is modern day Iraq. Many of them are living in Lebanon. They speak Aramaic and curse non stop.
That’s not a cartoon... I presume you know the difference. And perhaps some Dems are now defending Iran in some way. The stuff I have seen though is expressing that they are absolutely f’ing tired of the US spending billions and trillions of dollars killing people all around the world. Especially the region of the world where Iran is in where they killed the general where we were lied to to get into in the first place which is Iraq now by a guy that said he wanted out of the region when he was running for office that apparently thought it was an option for Obama to attack Iran to get re-elected. Did you get all of that information in that run on sentence? There are people in this country that are (growing in numbers all of the time) that do not want more escalation of war. And the US to mind their own business. To not be told the county can’t afford to have a single payer system or free tuition for public colleges when most other countries can. Well maybe everyone wants to know how TF we are going to pay for it because we are spending all of the tax money on war! But you go ahead and push that war with Iran. Knowing God Damn well that if you were an average citizen in the Middle East or Iran/Iraq trying to raise a family And lost a member of your family you wouldn’t think those cartoons and memes were very funny. It’s all about perspective and empathy and you and many conservatives along with corporate Democrat slaves severely lack.
Not blaming the messenger. "Missile attacks" encompasses a great variety of conditions. It'd be nice to have more info.
there's no real info, CNN is covering it and the NYT says an earlier report of a similar attack turned out to be a false report: "The strike came less than two hours after reports circulated that rockets had been fired on Taji Air Base, an Iraqi military base where American troops are deployed. Officials said the reports of an attack there appeared to be false."
That depends upon whether any people were killed. If it was like that BS propaganda attack by Trump on Syria where he warned them first and they all left - so that he could tell the ignorant people he did something then yeah, no big deal. But if they killed some service men or women - then this will escalate, and all because some of you elected a PEA SIZED brain idiot into the White House to shake **** up. Let's hope none of your family members are now going to have to fight an unnecessary war because Captain Orange Hairy Ego can't stand being wrong or made fun of. DD
