Pulling out of the nuke deal has been a disaster for Trump, unless this is his desired outcome. Assassinating a foreign military leader (no matter how bad of a dude he is) without Congressional approval is a violation of the constitution as well. Trump is not king, and he once against just acted like it. This is not only going to escalate things further, but very likely derail most everything else. However, it should distract from impeachment as well - there's your wag the dog moment.

It cannot be overstated how ridiculous it is that the two most important people in influencing the response from Iran will be Putin and Xi. Iran’s first two calls will be to those two countries to consult them. Will be of high interest to see what comes out of the Kremlin the next few hours. Could be telling. I think it could go several ways, but regardless Putin wants the US out of the Middle East and would very much wish for Russia to control the Middle East from Syria. The US in Iraq with a large presence (which now seems inevitable) stands in the way of Russia’s interest. I predict Trump will figure out quickly from Putin that this was a bad idea and he’ll try and back track... but it’s probably too late at this point. I don’t think Putin or Xi can convince Iran to not hit back hard at this point, but it’s a slight possibility.
Comforting to now our allies are united in their support of trump's action... And our own state department...
