Of course he's calling for a rigged trial. Are you guys just new to Donald Trump or something? He'll say up is down, and black is white if it gets him out of the moment he's in. He's been like this his entire life, and certainly his entire presidency. If the trial is obviously rigged, he will not lose a single vote because of it with his supporters. They also know he's guilty and simply do not care because whats even more obvious is that Trump supporters WANT him to cheat because him losing apparently is as existential of a crisis that they would threaten a violent civil war over Biden winning. What the hell do you guys think Trump supporters want Mitch McConnell to do? Of course they support a rigged trial.
More evidence that increase the importance that testimony still being blocked by trump has to be heard. Exclusive: Unredacted Ukraine Documents Reveal Extent of Pentagon’s Legal Concerns https://www.justsecurity.org/67863/...ts-reveal-extent-of-pentagons-legal-concerns/
Rudy's gonna blow up a full trial. Best thing to do is let it be and run on the slogan that "Trump was impeached and didn't get a fair senate trial". It really promotes the ultimate goal of winning back the senate. I, for one, fully support a full trial. I think it's the only way we get to hear both sides of the story and make our own decision about what went down.
The problem is will the GOP controlled Senate call to testify relevant people like Mike Pompeo and John Bolton? Obviously they are going to ask for Hunter Biden which is irrelevant to the trial as I've explained hundreds of times that if there was a "there there" with Hunter Biden, Trump still abused his power as he used a personal tv lawyer to dig up dirt in a foreign country and use that dirt to freeze aid instead of going through legal proper channels such as the DOJ, the State Department and the FBI hence why John Bolton called the whole thing a *drug deal".
I’m more interested in a Schiff testimony as well as the whistleblower. You seem to have no problem with the biased House impeachment process but would like a non biased Senate trial but like I said full disclosure, get it all out there.
I think Mike Pompeo and John Bolton are far more relevant in the case that is asking whether Trump used personal motivations to freeze military aid to a foreign country which in essense circumvented US foreign interests for personal gain because those two had direct contact with Trump. The reality is you are coming from a place of bad faith. You very well know the Senate will never call Pompeo and Bolton to testify and you will never express concern that they won't so your "I want it all to come out" bs is that... Bad faith bs.
The hope is that both sides get to call who they want, right? I know that's a novel idea but it's what is fair. HB and JoeB might be relevant witnesses if their testimony supports the claim that there was legitimate cause to investigate the corruption alleged by Rudy Poo. Also, if Trump considers Rudy as a reliable source and Trump believes there is this rampant corruption as Rudy claims, then it can be argued that Trump thought this regardless of whether or not Rudy can prove it. It all sounds too easy to defend in a Republican dominated senate unless something new comes out that is overwhelmingly damning. I don't think Trump is REQUIRED to go through any of the channels as you claim. It's within the power of the presidency to make that call. And considering that the same channels have totally F'd him over as we found out in the Horowitz report, I can see why he's gun shy about trusting anyone outside his circle. But this has been argued endlessly in this thread. Bottom line: Let's get a full blown trial and let the cards play out so I can make an informed decision.
How can you call it bad faith when you consider what Schiff did in the House inquiry? @mick fry says he'd like everyone to be able to call their own witnesses. That means dems and repubs....ie: No denying witnesses. That's 100% more fair than the previous bullshit.
Well, if he isn't re-elected you will see several criminal trials involving Donald Trump with real jail time as a possibility. New York isn't the only state but they are interested. Further, federal suits potentially can be started. Normally there would likely (based on history) be some degree of deference given to a former President. A pardon or agreement to not sue........ however that isn't likely to happen if he isn't re-elected. He very well could spend time in jail as the sitting President in that scenario would be a Democrat. Assuming he is re-elected; there will not likely be another impeachment unless evidence of an even more grave offense comes to light (which sadly is a real possibility. I would hope in a second term Trump would distance himself from criminals unlike his first term.
No. What’s fair is keeping Biden issue separate, the GOP had a chance for a transparent investigation and an impeachment trial isn’t that. There’s nothing HB could have done to justify Trump’s abuse of power. There are avenues to investigate such things and Rudy Giuliani isn’t it.
