Iask you.. in 2020, will you stop buying products from China, or companies with huge factories there like Apple, or continue to do so while complaining? You are feeding the demise of humanity and the planet every time you do so. You directly contribute to it with first world demand.

If you want to judge people for being hypocritical, perhaps start with yourself. Without gov't getting involved, nothing will change.

If only there was a way to make sure that US citizens purchased less products from China. A way to limit free riders. If only there was a way to make sure that the cost to the environment in real dollars was passed on to those people that choose to purchase products from China. I really wish that we had some central authority to pass rules or additional costs to limit or discourage consumption of Chinese goods.

What about you? You use energy to power your computer/phone so you can post your soapbox rants here. You're directly contributing to global warming as a result. Will you stop in 2020 or are you OK with feeding the demise of humanity with each of your posts?

This is right in line with stop eating meat and pay more taxes on your own.

Best way to help the environment is to consume less. Kind of mutually exclusive to capitalist thinking.

What you need to wish for is people voting for the person with the ability and foresight to do this, and hold corporations accountable, like a Warren, not a bevy of sarcastic comments from people who are a part of the problem they pretend to care about.

What about me, porkchop? I've mentioned the small changes you can make on countless occasions, that I myself have made, but you get more pleasure from complaining and blaming everyone but yourself. This is capitalism, your spending dictates what decisions the government makes. Not an imaginary moral line you pretend to have. Drive an electric car, don't eat factory meat (eat meat two to three times a week from free range sources) and then maybe, maybe you're allowed to have a say. Otherwise it's pointless swing and misses from the "I mean what I say" whining you represent.

Your consumption powers China. Your consumption dictates government policy. It really is that simple.

Any massive change concerning the consumption of Chinese products will have to be enacted by the government. A voluntary call to stop buying goods from China is not going to do much, because so many products come from China. The media can play a part by pointing out the level of deception and depravity from the CCP in China. Also, how culturally restrictive the CCP is as well. That will help.

FWIW my wife and I have limited the purchase of items from China the last handful of years. We have a family friend that was persecuted in China by the CCP.

We have made efforts to not purchase cook wear from China, and have had some success limiting clothing from China. However, something are really hard to get that are not made in China.

Global consumption powers China. Not to mention all that disposable consumer crap is increasingly coming from new developing countries.

It’s like playing whack a mole. Complain about China then Vietnam and India takes over that low value manufacturing.

I agree and have done the same myself. But the actions of a few won't stop millions of Americans from buying smart phones or apple products with glass sourced in China. Or home builders from getting cheap China grade materials to cut a decent profit. Or the NBA from bending over and taking it. Government bureaucracy works slowly and with a heavy dose of financial self interest from those with lobbying power... so spreading real information over hype is a way to get the ball rolling. And that's where the momentum will come from ... purchasing power ... only then will the greater body of politicians take note.

American consumption powers China. 20% of total exports come here and that doesn't include the factories that make items used in American products. We see the same cycle over and over again - consumers finding out where cheap palm oil comes from (death of Indonesian rain forests and farmland, constant fires), slowly feeling guilty and then pressuring congress into action, by then the industry has found a new source in another country that was once lush and healthy... so awareness leading to regulation is the only way forward. The industry will always be ahead , the richest guys will have the priciest lawyers with the most comprehensive knowledge of loopholes.

Only 20%? Definitely a big chunk, but that’s been decreasing as the rest of the world develops and demands consumer goods.

But China is intentionally moving up the manufacturing value train....

Like Trump, you are about 5 years behind the times. Are you running for elected office too with a nationalist platform?
