Celebrity endorsements are going to be very important for Yang since he is fighting an uphill battle with traditional media. Star power will be how he can close the attention/name recognition gap.
It wouldn't solve all of our problems but it could solve a lot. Lack of access to basic care is a big problem. We have tens of millions without healthcare and tens of millions more who are underinsured and can't afford the deductibles / co-pays which make them unable to seek medical attention when they need it. It's estimated that between 25 to 50k people die unnecessarily / prematurely every year due to a lack of healthcare access. I think the major problems universal coverage addresses will far out shadow the small increased inconvenience for a few. The diet/lifestyle aspect is also an aspect we need to be fighting for (especially to be emphasized in our schooling system), I'm not saying universal healthcare is the only part and we're all done by any means, but I 100% believe it's both a necessary and a vital part of the solution.
Yang is by far the best candidate in the sense that he's the most forward thinking, non establishment, and possibly well rounded candidate out there. These old timers with tons of establishment experience are stuck in ancient history. They don't realize technology is the biggest threats to our future, far ahead of climate change (though a huge issue, still). Yang at least seems to get modern problems when compared to these 80+ year olds. It's a shame they're leading the pack. They'll never beat Trump. It's going to take a moonshot to beat Teflon Don, the Horrible. It's going to take something like Yang.
Yo how does Donald Trump have a snapchat and posted about Yang, lmao. This dude barely said anything about Andrew Yang and all of a sudden he's Yang Gang?
You better stick the landing with the massive overhaul.... you will have zero room for error. Even if somehow you stick the landing.... and do everything right... You still have to win in the courts. Big chance for this to set back expanding socialized healthcare. Good luck!
You could argue that both trump and Bernie are results of populism too . In trumps case it’s populism with a Facebook page
I could and I would. A big reason why I don't support Trump or Sanders.... bunch of easy, vague, emotional answers to serious issues.
Fair enough (tho I would argue Yang is anything but vague ) but I will say populism won in 2016 and Sanders is probably in second place among the Dems right now
Yang is like Warren, who was my candidate until she kept giving details about her plans which coincided with her drop. These candidates appeal to wonky types, like myself, but the realist in me knows the details will be their Achilles heel.
The hockey stick is upon us. The problem will be translating this into poll numbers. Especially in this insanely small window for the 7th debate.
Nice interview here -- hadn't seen it posted yet. Lot of love from CNN. They are spot on with how well he handled the minority question. And it was a very natural pivot for him, because he went to data and acknowledged that all minority experiences aren't alike.
What is there not to like about Warren's policies? Is she suggesting the corporation you work for pay taxes? People are onto Yang because they want relatability more than tough truths... and the $1,000 a month. It's the same with Obama except he didn't need the $1,000 to win over the black and hispanic communities. Overall, I like them both but it's a stretch to pretend like Warren's policies aren't incredible for middle and lower America and she has a track record of getting things done. We saw how nice guy Obama won with relatability, but at the end of his 8 years, civil strife was greater than when it began. On the subject of healthcare, can he stand up to powerful lobbyists like Monsanto who need poor Americans to not have access to healthy food in order to be profitable? In order to force more chemicals and industrialization of farming? Warren is a much more formidable force there amongst other area's dealing with corporations, and no question, that helps low and middle America a lot more than a "nice guy".
