Demagogues have that effect. I think the GOP needed something like Trump to keep going their supply side policies going.... even though they are directly responsible for globalization. I must say pinning globalism on the Dems was masterful campaigning, but obviously false. Rural areas and Rust Belt will still continue to underperform. Lastly the difference between conservatives and Dems, is that conservatives fall in line like good soldiers.

How do you look at it? What are the qualities of a good leader that you look for and that Trump possesses?
whether you agree with his policies or not, whether you approve of him as a human being or not, whether you think he is evil personified and the second coming of Hitler (looking at you @Sweet Lou 4 2 ) or not, the fact remains . . . he is President of the United States, he managed to figure out how to get himself ELECTED President of the United States (if you think that's so easy, go ahead and try it), and he is presiding over the Federal Government and the Republican Party for better or worse. I don't think it takes much imagination to consider him an effective leader--again, whether you agree with him or his policies or not
contempt is the wrong word (not to turn this into a semantics discussion, we both know how certain contemptuous ClutchFans D&D liberals feel about THAT!) . . . and it's not the liberalism per se I have a problem with. It's the self-righteousness of particular exemplars of the species that makes me sad.
It's not about policies that make him an ineffective leader. It's about not knowing how to do his job, what's required of him by the constitution, his inability to win over people who didn't already subscribe to his cult of personality, his inability to get the most out of people who work for him, his inability to choose quality people to work for him, his inability to get people to work for him. He has yet to fill the scores of positions. He has even managed to lessen the regard of the office through his actions and lack of leadership. None of that has to do with being in favor of or against his policies. All of it has to do with being an effective leader, and he has failed.
I think what makes an effective leader should be determined by one’s qualities, not necessarily personal successes. Trump’s ability to market himself to a certain segment of the population is not being questioned, but is that really what leadership means to you?

He didn't get himself elected. The 2016 election result was achieved not by the traditional method of marketing, but by the prosecution of PsyOps. The GRU, Cambridge Analytica, Psy-Group, Black Cube, et al researched and individually targetted specific voters to shift their voting inclination. I'd have thought her application at Fox News would be better received if she voted no. She's not going to be president, she's not going to stay in the House, she's not even well situated to be a lobbyist, why not just vote like you feel instead of taking the weaselly way out? You absolutely have. Lambasting the Democrats for wanting to hold him accountable for even a fraction of his offenses, violations of the Constitution, crimes, etc. causes you to post article after article against the impeachment. Perhaps you don't consider advocating against holding him accountable as a defense of Trump.
