    They've lost all leverage and if they lose in 2020 that's it, morally and politically you wouldn't attempt to impeach again. That's actually the issue at hand, in an election year you need to let the voters decide. Trump's gonna be Trump and he will give you a chance to impeach at a later time but now that card has already been played.

    I think had Pelosi not pulled the trigger when she did, the Dems would have hurt their legitimacy and severely hurt the power of Congress moving forward. The Dem base would have felt hopeless and betrayed and that suppression of the base would have hurt more than whatever extra turnout happens out of the Republican base.

    As for the Dems not being able to impeach again, that’s not necessarily true. If another instance like this happens again like the Ukraine scheme, Schiff or another committee can launch a probe that is similar to the Schiff Ukraine investigation, and subpoena witnesses and hold hearings in the same way. They can even call it Article III inquiry if they want. Their power to subpoena doesn’t go away. If the votes are there to bring another article to the floor they can do that as many times as they want.

    Who cares ultimately the voters will decide. If the voters voted for him again well obviously they don't care about his transgressions.
