The Jump: Should Mike D'Antoni have kept James Harden in to chase 80 points?

I know a lot of people will argue no, risk an injury not worth it...I disagree...he plays a lot more during playoffs after a long season and still stays tough.

He should have played all 4 quarters to break additional records

 

Would I have liked to have watched Harden possibly break Kobe’s 81? Yes. Should Harden have played the 4th with such a big lead? Absolutely not.

It would’ve been cool to see Harden go for 70 or more...but we were up, what, 50 at one point? Gotta send in the B team when you can...the season is a marathon, the less wear on our guys the better.

 

The most important thing is this is how you do load management. Kick the other team's butt so bad that you get to sit out in the 4th and give your role players some game time.

60 thru 3 quarters is rather groovy but I wanna championship. Stats are a lot more fun after winning that first ship. It will take some luck but I think the Rockets have a shot at it. Especially if Russ keeps attacking the way he has been and limiting his attempts beyond the Arc.

soooooooo yes... MDA made right decision. There is absolutely no worthwhile reason to have kept James in the game. The lead was insurmountable and a whole quarter of rest doesn't just keep Harden fresher but also afford opportunity to younger players to gain valuable experience.

NO. If anyone watched the game towards the end of 3rd, Harden started to just stat padding by jacking up ridiculous 3s, which he missed miserably too. He also didn’t feel the need to run back on defense just because team was up by so much. At such times I rather see our bench get some quality time and showcase their worth especially Hartenstein and Clemons.

 

No and they are being insincere, because you know if MDA had kept him in, all hell would've broken lose on Harden and D'Antoni, with a side of Morey, Westbrook and Fertitta. That it's all about stats, not winning, blabla, Rockets culture, not spending, blabla, MVP chasing, stat chasing blabla..
