That’s scary as ****...but why didn’t they take an exit or pull over? Not really worth it if you have a baby on board.

also the “give me the gun” part was jaw dropping. Crazy cliffhanger

They were on the phone with authorities to get this guy pulled over and were following. Definitely not worth it though.

The "give me the gun" seemed purely for defense purposes as both of them stopped to see about the motorcyclist and he didnt know how that road rage guy was going to react since there was so much aggression already with his vehicle.

On a serious note, I can relate. Had a somewhat similar situation that didn't end nearly as badly (as far as I know).

Family in car, I was in the fast lane, car in front of me was going too slow, lifted Truck behind me starts driving super wild on my ass, eventually, car in front of me gets over, I hit the gas to speed up immediately, but the guy behind is already furious and hits 100+ to speed up next to me, tries to hit me multiple times, brake slamming, rolls his window down to try to either throw something or point a gun possibly, he never found what he was looking for thank god. I stayed behind him long enough to get his license plate, immediately hit the brakes and got off, called it in to the cops, don't know what happened from there. Even then, I felt like a hot head for following with a child in the car to get the plates, one of the break checks could have got me, felt like I should have immediately disengaged instead afterward.

The guy definitely shouldn't have pulled up side to side multiple times, that could have been his whole family's life gone in the blink of an eye if that guy decided to swerve or unload a clip. It's tough, the guy sounded young so I can relate, your so furious you want to make sure the MF gets what he deserves, but you have to know to say **** it and just disengage.

Not surprising the guy hit the biker, in situations like that your paying so little attention to the road, driving so wild that it's almost a miracle when a catastrophe doesn't strike in those types of situations. Poor biker, hope he makes a full recovery.

Good thing the man had a well-trained baby to get him the gun quickly and efficiently!

    Situation:

    1) Baby in the car
    2) Lunatic in a much larger vehicle ramming it into my smaller sedan.
    3) Just witnessed the lunatic run over a motorbike.
    4) On the call with cops and have given them the info they need.

    Analyzing...

Conclusion: Let's stop the car and confront him.

In defense of the guy and lady, he may have gotten out to check on the motorcyclist the guy just ran off the road and probably wanted to defend himself in case the lunatic in the Tahoe went after him or something. If he really wanted to use it, he could've blown the guy's face off as they were driving.

And of course the pickup driver has to have a "Texas" edition truck. *sigh* I bet he wouldn't do that if I were driving my Cybertruck. I'd ask him to pull over and challenge him to a tug-of-war between our trucks. Then I'd throw a steel ball through his windshield.

I get why the driver was following the Tahoe. Tahoe had already made contact with the driver's vehicle, and without ID'ing the Tahoe's driver, police can't do anything with plates alone. The police chief who said plates are enough only says that to discourage following road ragers, but he knows that police can't charge anyone with only plates because they don't know who was the one driving.

Is it worth it with your family in the car? In hindsight, maybe not, but hard to play armchair quarterback not in the moment. In a hit and run, your car insurance may be able to go after the offender's car insurance after you pay your deductible, but that's if the offender even has car insurance. Very unlikely and now you're on the hook for your damages. That's why identifying the driver for police to charge the offender is so important, but police rarely investigate for hit and runs unless someone gets hurt.

I think England's system automatically assumes the owner is the driver unless the owner can prove someone else is driving. That's the only way to prevent dangerous chases in hit and runs. The laws need to change or situations like this will repeat.

Sometimes I wish I had one of those cameras on my dash just so I could have a record of what some idiot did, and his license plate.

I came within an inch of being in a bad accident driving on the tollway on North Mopac in Austin, heading south. A damn fool decided to run over the plastic things that stick up as dividers (which are weird, and close to useless, but I digress) because he was in bumper to bumper traffic. Well, there wasn't bumper to bumper traffic on the tollway, and everyone, including me, was trying to go at least 65. Anyway, I slammed on the brakes and turned away from the chump just enough to miss hitting him. It was pure luck that there was a tiny bit of shoulder there, or I would have slammed into his stupid ass. It was also pure luck that I wasn't rear ended. As it was, the guy behind me came close. So the goofus hauled buns on the toll road and I was unable to get his plate number. That camera would have been nice.

    Nice!

I found this Googling his name...

SPLENDORA, Texas — A very dangerous road rage encounter was caught on video Tuesday on U.S. 59 near Splendora.

In the video, a white SUV being driven by Armando Montes is seen speeding around a car being driven by Lucas Martin. In the video, which was recorded from the vehicle being driven by Martin, you can see Montes use his SUV to strike Martin's vehicle multiple times...

Splendora Police posted on their Facebook page Tuesday night that Montes was already out on bond for Felony DWI with a Child. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

That is actually the very same article linked to in the OP. The very same one

    lulz

Sometimes I like to wait to reply to posts to see if anyone else will catch key info (in this case, on bail for DWI with Child) from article linked in an OP, just to see if anyone actually reads the OP articles. :)

Instead of reading the OP article, you googled to find it ... good job, good effort ...
