There won't be a hot civil war... the civil war is a cold one of a societal rift where people won't give you jobs and opportunities because of your politics and worse: identity. We are already seeing this played out where people will even try to get you fired for something you tweeted that they didn't like or find funny. Families and friends are breaking apart because people no longer care about those ties as much. They are also not even willing to let others have an opinion without being jerks about it. The obsession with politics is ruining people and their lives. And the sad part is that everyone thinks they are the arbiter of what is correct, true, and moral. I partially blame the education system which is nothing more than a degree mill, pumping out idiots who think because they have a BA they are experts in everything. Hell, there are people with MAs and PHDs who are complete lunatics. Social media also played a role in ramping up narcissistic personality disorders and also putting political debates between friends and family right to their face at a high clip. Much more than the occasional heated Thanksgiving argument. I have seen family break up just to defend Beto who isn't even a serious contender. I have seen friends become complete cockbags over stupid issues because they want to make everything politicals. I left FB because of this kind of BS.

If you note in my first post I didn't say it would be a fight between standing armies. As far as propaganda I'm countering it is the propaganda that Liberals won't fight back. I see it frequently on social media with such memes put out by sites with names like "Angry Patriot" such as 'We're counting our ammo, while they're trying to figure out what bathroom to use." As other posters have noted though there are groups on the Left that have and are willing to use violence. Antifa might not be the bogeyman that the Right makes it out to be but they have certainly violently opposed the Right. They set a building at Cal on fire just because Milo Yannoupolis was going to speak. Also groups like the Weatherman, SLA and etc.. were violent Leftist groups that undertook terrorist actions.

In many ways the Right has tried to have it both ways. They simultaneously mock the Liberals and the Left as being soft and weak while simultaneously saying they are violent.

I agree we will not have a civil war of militaries but one where there is unorganized chaotic violence I see not only as possible but likely. A few years ago very few would've thought that Hong Kong could descend into the chaos it has but it has.

A breakdown can occur anywhere but it happening in Hong Kong isn’t all that shocking because of history and being a subject of an incredibly oppressive regime.

So you enjoy taking things out of context for your amusement? I’m glad you could find a laugh.

Civil war in the old sense isn't happening.

An insurgency is much more likely and harder to stop. The playbook has already been written many times. You terrorize the public here and there just enough to slow the country to a crawl through fear. Just look back at Iraq where the "rebels" targeted police, local markets, electric grids, water supply, polling locations, and targeted assassinations. You aren't having the Confederate army marching up and down the east coast anymore. It would be small cells of like minded nuts committing acts of terror and propagandizing their attacks to swell their ranks.

Not likely. Americans like their comfortable lifestyle. There would have to be a drastic change to even lay the foundation for that.
