Its dumb to not make a move...try and see if you can get Ibaka i know the numbers are tough but throw in another 1-2 picks a 1st and 2nd rounder and maybe Ego/Maclemore

This season is hopeless. We literally cannot trade for anyone. We don't have any picks to trade and our only tradeable pieces are PJ (who we already desperately need to stay healthy) and Capela (who has been playing great for us). EG can't be moved until next summer because of extension rules so that leaves Westbrook as the only tradeable piece.

Too many ppl here still don't understand we can't move EG because of the extension rules. You cannot trade a player that signed an extension until 6 months after the signed period (Feb 29th, in this case).

NBA trade deadline this year is at Feb 7th.

I still want to wait until the Rockets have a full team. But all good points by OP.

The window has closed unless Morey can perform a miracle with Westbrook.

We’ll be really good when healthy but no way in hell are they getting through rounds 2-4 with Westbrook in the playoffs.

LOL, for everyone here this dudes think James Harden isnt a championship level player, alright. Actually he thinks no part of our organization is championship material.

The door is right there bro, I'll miss your tweets but you had a good run haha.

What is "building for playoff success" in November, going up by 60 at halftime and then resting the starters?

    No that is not happening.

You folks just need to relax and enjoy.

There's a reason why they play the games, the NBA commentariats dumb myopia on the last 10% of the calendar has gotten sickening at this point.

It's creating too much toxic in community.

    It's about the journey.

I got a news flash bruhs. Rox ain't winning the title this year. Neither is [insert team name]. It's just the way it is.

But you can always hope and watch. And that's the point. And it doesn't just start in April.

Unless Tilman changes, Rockets are building to do whatever it takes to not pay luxury tax.

Get a 3 and D wing that is taller than your average point guard. Get a real coach. Dantoni would be a good assistant coach. Either get someone to teach Westbrook how to shoot or make him stop. Actually get a shooting coach for entire team and make them practice shooting.

There has to be a way to trade Westrbrook, right? He can't be that untradable. Can we at least get picks or a decent player for him?

OP has a lot of good points, despite playing well last night I still think this team is considerably lacking in depth (even with Ego and House) and there doesn’t appear to be much flexibility to get better through trades (and buyouts later on), getting rid of Russ wouldn’t break my heart but who would take him and what could we ever get in return that would help us right away ? The possibilities of trading for a solid 4 just don’t feel too good at this point based on what we’ve seen with Timan and his LT savings crapola. I know there’s a lot of negativity following a loss like last nights and we played almost good enough to win but that’s been the same ol story seems every year since Hardens been here, we’ve played almost good enough, we’ve had a roster that’s almost good enough to wi it all, so it gets frustrating. Some of it is the system and expectations, some of it is the players and some of it has been fate. I guess it’s better to be closer to “almost winning” than to never get near to winning it all, but it’s a lot more heartbreaking that’s for sure.

I’m on the record as saying the Rockets will have a good regular season record, but playoff success
depends heavily on what the Rockets do by the trading deadline.

D House is doing well and has room for improvement; but will D’Antoni trust House for playoff minutes?
Real SF makes a ton of difference.....when House plays the Rockets defense improves tremendously statistically.

Rockets need to acquire another SF to go with House or another PF which allows Tucker to log in time at SF during
the playoffs.........this will determine playoff success (barring significant injuries). Give me Covington and I say the chip
is ours. Then again it depends on what the Rockets are giving up (asset) to acquire a player. Trading House
for Covington is kinda like taking one step forward while taking one step back. I’m not saying using the Gordon
lineup at SF wins in the playoffs. As a matter of fact I hate the small lineup using Gordon or Rivers and
    moving Harden to SF.

I don’t understand the Tillman is cheap mantra. Rockets are only behind Portland and Golden State in highest
team salary currently. Most CF’s can’t afford an extra patty with cheese at the local hamburger joint but know
how to spend and avoid the repeater tax at an NBA team level. Mind boggling.

People tell me it’s Morey that likes the small-ball lineups and not D’Antoni.....I find it hard to verify this notion.
Morey did use Chuck Wagon at center in the past. Adelmin ran the Princeton offense and loved using small
lineups for guard predominant play.....but then Ming and Scola were good size and Battier/Ariza/Budinger
were used during those years quite often.

I don’t believe Morey is against using real SF’s in their conventional spots, but D’Antoni has had a history
of going unconventional while with the Suns. Champions of the regular season means nothing to me.
Having the best record in pre season doesn’t prove you can win in the regular season and having an
outstanding record in the regular season (running a gimmick offense) doesn’t mean you can win in the
playoffs. D’Antoni often wins with small lineups running “Bigs” off the court and racking up points
or easy points on rim runs or transition points. But in the playoffs teams force a half court game
and put those “Small-Ball” lineups at a disadvantage in many of the intangibles such as rebounding,
points at the rim (tip-in’s), deflections, boxing out, etc.

D’Antoni followed the model used with the Suns, last season. With the Knicks “Lin-Sanity” provided success
in the season, but then Melo came back from injury and they became a playoff mess (Lin had surgery and missed
the playoffs). While with the Lakers, team speed or lack thereof was an issue. Never has D’Antoni been
accused of caring about defense or having his team practice much on the defensive end. Never had a top 10
defense for a regular season. Many would say defense wins championships. And for a while, after D-Wade
and the Miami Heat won the championship......only top-5 defenses were winning the chip.

    So my. Questions are:
    1) What tradable assets do the Rockets have and who can they trade for? Trail Blazers may be in (Rodney Hood)
Spurs also (don’t usually trade with division rivals.....but that’s how we got Scola)

    2) can D’Antoni change.......emphasis on defense and trust House/players. Expand the rotation.

    That’s it.....have a good day.
