Wow to achieve your final form at such a young age- this kid is already a full on middle aged up state new yorker, exasperated by having to explain something so straight forward, but bemused at your idiocy.

 

Finally had it. I like Popeyes more. Ordered a spicy combo with some much loved red beans n rice. I don't drink soda so I'll get two sandwiches if I ever go back

Problem with CFA is that it's half as good if the chicken is soggy. It's like a salt mine (haven't had a good experience with spicy yet). The bread is standard burger variety and doesn't have the catch of that brioche bun. So if the chicken doesn't shine, then you're working with a memory of how good CFA could be... Maybe they should put up a freshness sign like Krispy Creme


My work orders CFA once a month so it does diminish things for me.

 

Ordered another spicy chicken at popeyes. Have to say i'm digging this Sunday tradition. Something I can't say about Chick-fil-a.

 

Agreed. If they use the spicy breading for their spicy bone-in chicken on the spicy sandwiches, it'll take it up to best chicken sandwich. Hopefully they add that in the future.

 

When was the last time spicy chicken was actually spicy at Popeyes though?

Ive gotten them before and they weren't spicy either. They use the same spices and batter as their spicy chicken, why would it matter if they were tenders?

 

this also goes back to quality control. If you notice the spicy chicken has a layer of red between the breading and the chicken itself. That's because the spicy chicken should have be marinated in hot sauce and spices for 24 hours. A lot of Popeyes are too lazy to do that. Find a better popeyes that does.

 

Find a better popeyes....? LOL, if you havent noticed the m.o. of all popeyes and the media attention theyve been getting, theres really not a 'better one' to be found. Why dont you share your secret location that seems to do everything correctly?

 

I have about 4 Popeyes in my area. The newest one has been nails. It’s on telephone and the beltway

the Edgebrook location is good too but way more busy.

 

I wouldn't call it spicy, but it has more flavor than the bland mild chicken.

 

The spicy chicken is great.

I like the mild as well, but for some reason they decide to drown the sandwich in mayo more than they drown the spicy.

Chick-Fil-A is still great and I prefer their breading, but the texture of Popeye's chicken breasts closely matches that of the chicken I cook Sous-Vide.
