James Harden’s shot selection has not changed in his slow start to the season. The Rockets have no issues with that.

Harden has made 28.6 percent of his shots, 15 percent of his 3-pointers. His 13.3 3-pointers per game attempted lead the NBA.

“James is a different breed,” Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni said. “A normal player you’d say they’re bad shots. He’s not normal. Those are the shots he always takes, and he’s made. That’s why you don’t worry about it. Game shape is probably not there, yet. His legs are feeling it. Then you start to press a little bit because you want to do well.

“We’re talking about a guy who had 40 points (Monday) night. Not bad.”

 

Harden's making 96% of his FTs

for his career he's only 86% FT shooter

not sure if he simply practiced it alot or changed his form

but it may be affecting his threes

 

Well as mentioned earlier, he's taking 63% of his shots from 3 so far which would be a career high

He's still taking 13 threes like last year, but his overall shots are down to 21 from 24.5 last year, so he's taking fewer 2s, specifically shots at the rim.

Now he took more shots last year due to injuries, so he'll probably take around 20 per game with Westbrook taking more of the lead.

It'll be interesting to see if he also reduces his threes to around ten per game.

 

He's also shooting 82% at the rim. Seems like he's only struggling from three so far.

 

Thank you feigen for confirming the rockets have no problem with Harden chucking bad shots. This koolaid is delicious.

This james freaking harden one of the greatest players of all time

 

He is shooting the majority of his shots from
3 while shooting a career worst. He is killing it on drives. You would think a team full of nerds in the FO would be like hmmmm hey James let’s shoot less 3s and drive more. It’s not like they are catch and shoot 3’s they are step backs. He could easily drive. This team goes full r****d at times.

I think he should shoot around half his shots from 3, not 63% like he currently is doing.

Of course if he can shoot 50 3s a game at 37% then that would be preferable. The point is the more you shoot the less likely you can maintain the %

Harden has never shot as high a % as he has this year.

 

and so? everyone else is even ego is as well whats so unique about harden?

are you saying all rockets players should have a limit their 3 pt shots to just 50%

 

I'm saying that ideal distribution is different for every player. For harden it's around 50% like last year. Imo
