To me, Springer has been the most consistent batter over the 5 games. 6-19, 2 doubles, 2 homeruns, 4 RBIs, 6 walks. That he plays every game puts him above Chirinos and Alvarez. Brantley and Altuve haven't hit for power. Harris has been the most important pitcher. Urquidy close behind, but again Harris has impacted 3 games so far, including Urquidy's start ... and you certainly wouldn't be surprised to see him again.
To me, Springer has a better chance. You rarely see no-super stars to get MVPs in other sports, do not know the baseball.
Yeah he plays every game but that’s not realistic for a catcher. That said, I think if you consider what Chirinos brings to the table with his defense, game planning/calling and handling our pitching staff, including JV and guiding Urquidy in game 4, I think it closes the gap enough to warrant consideration.
Pearce won it last year for the Sox, David Ross has won it recently and several other non stars have in recent past so that’s not a factor...if anything they like choosing a non star.
That's fair. Catcher is obviously super important fielding position. Springer has been solid and versatile in the outfield, but nothing amazing.
I didn’t realize he didnt have any RBI’s. I suppose I’ll root for Alvarez to have a monster game then and get the mvp. Perhaps Cole comes in and closes game 7 for the last two innings with 6 strike outs lol
I do not know anything for baseball, was Pearce playing his game out the mind last year? This year he is the biggest disappointment for the team.
Yes, their "aces" are standing in the way and that is worrisome. But here is the alternative view: I can't believe Scherzer will be a 100/%. How do you "can't get out of bed" and suddenly you are pitching in the World Series? The Astro hitters looked to be in a fog in Houston, but have warmed up. The law of averages is in Verlander's favor. Surely he will have one sterling game in the playoffs. Momentum has shifted in the Astro's favor, and has there ever been a WS where the home team never won? Frankly, the Nationals look snake bit. They feel like the umpire cheated them, they thought they would finish it in DC, to lose all the games at home was unthinkable. Stuff like that throws off your game.
Lol. Just wait till they start claiming it was “sarcasm”. Or even worse, start taking credit for a supposed “reverse jinx”.
