Why are the rockets games on the same night as WS games?

The Astros were world series favorites at the start of the season. I am assuming they knew the dates of the WS games. Why not try to schedule games around that. The rockets already get bad fan support and this is going to make it worse.

I don't know if its the rocket's fault or the NBA's fault, but the Rockets have to realize they are 3rd in the pecking order in the city in terms of fandom.

man, fck baseball...not even a question of which game I’ll be watching tonight

the schedule is made early in the summer

The Rockets should schedule games based on what the Astros might do? I guess it was a foregone conclusion that the Nationals would be in the WS all the way back in July too.

Were the Astros WS favorites at the start of last year too because they were nowhere to be found when it tipped off.

even if the astros or whatever NFL team were the surefire winners of the championships, it woudn't matter one bit.

It's not the Rockets who make the schedule it's the league office.

They have to coordinate 30 teams plans and the scheduling conflicts with other bookings in their arenas while making sure there are few b2b and 4 games in 5 nights.

So the astros are not at all in their priorities.

Firstly the NBA had no way of knowing that the Astros would be in the WS. Are you going to complain that the Nationals play on the same night as the Wizards as well?

Secondly, the NBA should not really care what the MLB does to begin with. It's a battle for #2 sport in the USA. The MLB is either at #2 or #3 right now I'm not sure, but clearly the NBA is trending upwards while the MLB is downwards (low ratings for the 1st 2 games of the WS this year), the NBA should go head to head with the MLB whenever it can. Think of the "monday night wars" with WCW and WWE.

The could be 2nd, but Astros beat Dantoni to a ring.

Rockets on avg play every other night. There’s a 1 in 2 chance the games will be on the same night.

Neither the Astros nor the Rockets have enough pull with the city to warrant thinking about what the other team is doing. Both have relatively small fanbases compared to the city at large.

Now if they are scheduling Rockets games on Sunday at 1pm that's when you should be wondering what the hell is going on. But theres a reason why Sunday day games on national TV dont start until after the football season

MMP is full of a bunch of bandwagoners...we’ll see if they keep all this energy they got right now once this run is over

I blame Obama. Look at the facts, before him the Rockets never interfered with the Astros telecasts.

If you hate baseball, why were you in the Astros forum giving your opinions when they were down 0-2? Pretty slimy, Reeko.

I was one of those people 2 years ago. Baseball (at least in OCT) is not boring. I know baseball is declining as a sport, but the playoff intensity is unrivaled. It's pretty surprising how much pressure is built up situation to situation, inning to inning.

Still not a good look to a fanbase that was grieving two bad losses. Two posts that turned the knife was no bueno.

Hey, I understand. I had the same opinion. But baseball is very fun in the post season.

I don't think the mlb and NBA coordinate

That said it would be nice if the rockets flexed to an afternoon game

NBA has surpassed MLB by far mainly due to our youth not watching baseball which is a shame. I understand why people find baseball boring to watch, especially when you’re watching it on TV but there’s nothing like going to a World Series game or any big playoff game for that matter. Even regular season games in a real baseball city like Boston, NY or Chicago and you’ll see why it’s such a great atmosphere/game to watch. The players for the most part are easy to like and root for unlike the NBA. Just take the NBAs best player the last decade (LeBron) or the MLBs (Trout) - anyone here think there is even an argument to be made about who is the more likeable and all around good person out of the two?

Don’t get me wrong I really like the Rockets and find the NBA entertaining to watch (on TV it’s 10X better than baseball I agree) but it’s a shame our youth has given up on baseball and that NBA is so popular with them in comparison and they now are growing up wanting to be like Lebron or really 80% of the rest of the NBA players...this NBA/China disagreement shows you exactly where they stand.

Edit: FYI wasn’t calling you out about any of the above but was responding to your question about what sport is #2 and the reason why the NBA wouldn’t care about scheduling games during WS games anyway...they’re far superior to the MLB these days in TV ratings.

Has your baseball fandom gotten to the point where it’s got u watching regular season Astros games or playoff games for other teams? Would u watch a bad or average Astros team now? I’m genuinely curious. I’ve tried a few times with baseball, but so far it’s been a fail. I wouldn’t mind going to a WS or ALCS game at MMP, but that’s mainly because the influx of bandwagoners has the place jumpin, and that type of atmosphere is something u rarely get to experience at TC.
