lol Judge said postgame that Paxton is the best lefty in the game. LOLOL. Pass that blunt laced with whatever youre having.
Cole isn't being "saved". He's just not being forced to pitch on short rest.. something he's never done in his career, and something that has been proven to decrease potential success. If they were down 3-2, there may have been an increased chance... but even then it wouldn't guarantee any more of an increased series win probability. In the end, there's still a 96% chance the Astros win this series... because the Yankees have to beat them twice, at MMP, and one of the games is slated to be started by Cole on full rest, and the Yankees have a bullpen by committee game as well as Severino, who isn't expected to pitch more than 4-5 innings.
True. They probably need to reconsider automatically going to Verlander on the road if presented with similar scenario of closing out series down the line. Save him for MMP.
96% chance to Win might be a bad thing considering the outcomes of previous "greatest favorites ever" games this season. Doubt Altuve makes the 3rd out at 3B again though. Finish this in 6 and it still appears sonewhat dominant. We already went max games last series.
Why? Other than the 1st inning, he retired the last 20 hitters in his outing. Which means 2 bad pitches in his start. Your offense does need to show up. A 4-1 game is not insurmountable by any means. Every single game can’t be completely won by your pitcher. If JV is healthy on full rest for a road game he’s starting. There’s nothing to consider otherwise
3-2 coming back to MMP is exactly where most Astros fans would have hoped it would be (translated as...win your 2 home games, and steal 1 out of 3 on the road). Hoping to win 4-1 against the Yankees was really pushing it.
Funny when people think the only bad pitches are ones that get smacked over the fence. It's more logical there were other bad pitches made, the final outcome was just different. Astros pathetic offensive needs do to better, true.
This doesn't make any sense. 96% chance is better than 4%. Just because 4% happens sometimes doesn't make it any more likely it will happen more often.
Well it's a moot point this postseason. If the Astros advance, Verlander goes in Games 2 and 6, both at Minute Maid Park. That's why it was wise to pitch him in Game 5.
To be fair before the series (and the rainout) that would have meant Verlander and Cole both pitching at MMP, but it’s still a good position that I think anyone would have taken ahead of time.
damn man, really wish we won tonight, but i doubt that it happens. the bullpen will choke in the first inning..im calling it.
