I made this point on twitter a few days ago. If the argument is that Erdogan decided he was going to attack even if it means killing a thousand American soldiers then: 1) He was assured of no retaliation (doubtful) 2) He feels confident we wouldn't retaliate because he thinks we are weak 3) He doesn't care about us retaliating and is prepared to go to war with the United States None of those would be good realities. That a "NATO ally!!!!1 derp" basically told us "hey get your troops out of there or they'll die" is pretty damn alarming.
US have enabled the kurds. That is being a bad ally... You know you should prove erdogan threatened to kill us troops before saying conspiracy theories.
Trump's letter was weird and weak sounding. I would have throw it in the bin too. Russia is right that it is weird. Perhaps propaganda to make it look like he is being tough on erdogan. I will say I don't think he is handling the Turks well, and he is a liar about war. He is completely OK with helping murderous sauds. Of course everyone seems ok with sending our troops to get shot at for Kurdish terror cells. Screw all of the people supporting pointless war. Trump botches a nato ally relationship. The one good thing that should come from leaving the kurds. So what was gained?
CNN: Erdogan says Turkey will 'never declare a ceasefire' Fox News: Pence, Pompeo announce Turkey-Syria cease-fire after tense talks with 'tough guy' Erdogan
Not surprised Turkey has agreed to this, they really aren't sacrificing anything. Turkey has agreed to stop shooting for a few days so the area they want to occupy can be evacuated.
Embarrassing disconnect between what our people are saying and what the other country is saying... again.
Honestly I think the second option is the most realistic. He isn't stupid, he isn't in the United States but he knows that American's are sick of some form of war for 18 years. Further Trump has made it clear he does not want to go to war, be it in his dealings with Russia, China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iraq or Syria. Obama talked about his "red line" and nothing came of it...... now Trump is running scared.
Poor liberals eating crow again after Trump agrees to a deal with Ergogan. Obama was such an epic failure in the Middle East, it’s frankly hilarious that the liberals even dare to share their views on the region!
Hey Erdogan....if I let you invade Syria without any real US interference, would you help me create a little diversion?
