They were much better rebounding with House in the line-up last season. They also added Westbrook and added Tyson Chandler who is a very good rebounder. Thabo is also a good rebounder. They added several guys who are better rebounders than what they had last year. In tandem, the rebounding should definitely improve.
Thabo actually has looked good as a rebounder in preseason. He's got crazy long arms. I think he could be like Ariza for us
And you Rockets fans are delusional. Go through the same fanboy phase all year long with the stupid excuses. "They're just tired." "They're just not trying." "The other team is just hot right now." And then the postseason arrives, and you get Harden's dribble dribble and the rest of the predictable offense. And now you get a inefficient shot-chucker to top it off.
I knew you weren't one of us. You should ask yourself why you're even here. This place is for ROCKETS FANS.
This in no way ends the argument, but I saw Sefalosha go out on a 7 foot center tonight and alter his shot with his long ass arms. That's gotta mean something.
He's not a Rockets fan. You are. I'll actually listen to you. Yes, rebounding does take a hit, but there are things that a small lineup can do systematically to still rebound well. I'm sure we'll get better at it as the season rolls forward. I personally think we'll see our centers like Capela and Chandler stop switching. We have a new defensive specialist this year, so I do expect to see some change. .. especially in the regular season and playoffs.
To be clear I like Thabo. I like PJ too. I’d love him as our backup SF for example. Where he’d still have the opportunity to go out and disrupt shots. But all it means at the moment is he had one good defensive possession in a game where the other team dominated the Rockets offensively. Rotations didn’t seem to work last night that’s for sure. You can feel MDA wanting to play Hartenstein more. Too bad he sucks.
I see you don't have a point exactly, you just want to b**** about our PF rotation. You claim one of our biggest weaknesses is rebounding yet your list included guys who dont rebound any better and are decidedly worst on defense. Seems legit.
Which one of the players listed would you NOT trade PJ Tucker for straight up if that was a possibility. Thanks, I'll wait for your answer.
What does that have to do with anything? But I will play along for starters I would not trade Tucker for LMA or Love especially with this team. There are others I might trade straight up but it would not be to replace Tucker at PF.
The fact that I think having Thabo as a backup 4 just points to how crappy our PF rotation is?? For some reason you seem to be struggling with the fact that I'm analyzing our PF rotation in a thread about using Sefolosha as our backup PF. I'm not sure why. But hey, if you'd prefer PJ Tucker over LMA or Kevin Love, as I've said previously, you do you. I'm not going to respond anymore. It's pointless.
So exactly how do you see LMA fitting on this team? Are you going to use him on the post? Who is he going to guard? And Love has not played a full season in 2 years and cant guard a stool. Why is he better? Will hang up and listen.
Russ doesn't fit on this team, we still traded for him. LMA is not just better than PJ Tucker, he's meaningfully better. I can think of multiple ways to use him. And he'll guard who he'll guard - the same system they currently use. PJ Tucker is WAY overrated as a defender... simply because he's capable of defending 1-5 ok. He had a 110DRtg last year, same as LMA... he's never been better than 106DRtg in his career, LMA was better than that the last 5 years in a row until last year. Kevin Love is meaningfully better than PJ Tucker. He can't defend, but is twice the rebounder Tucker is (statistically, literally, whatever) ... and don't worry, we still have Thabo as out backup!!!! Lol. Love is a risk cause of his health only. Otherwise that trade is made every time. I can't comment on his current health ... but it's a risk I'd take without hesitation. But seriously... you're sucking me in... I must be strong and stop responding!!!
He'll guard who he guards. Thanks for that insightful analysis. And you really are trying to compare LMA as a defender to Tucker. I rest my case.
It was a better answer than a question. Who will he guard? PFs... duh. And then other players when he switches on to them. You know... like everyone else on the team. And yes, I really was comparing LMA to PJ Tucker as a defender. That's what a comparison is. Way to read!!
And you think he will guard these PFs and and other players at an adequate rate? The fact you think they are comparable defenders shows you have no clue what you are talking about.
He's a B defender. This can pop up to a B+ even hit A- occasionally if on the right team and system. He's been a very solid defender in his time in SAS. He's also 1.5x the rebounder PJ is, and defensive rebounding is effectively part of defense. I've been down this path with many Rockets players over the years. From Hayes to Battier to Tucker. Great, great role players. Always overvalued for their defense and intangibles. Fan favorites and the like. Ultimately, talent wins out.
