The Stros ended up tippin off that they knew Glasnow was tippin off pitches. Keep it on the low next time.
During glasnow's first start in the series, they wouldn't shut up on how his hand location was always the same and how combined with his height , it was impossible for the batter to pick up on what he was throwing.
I imagine the Astros have some advanced overlaying software they use on game tape to pick up slight variations in pitchers stances and tracks what gets pitched. Maybe it's just more noticeable in the playoffs that they are exploiting it.
Offensively, the astros did very little in games 3 and 4. Even most of game 5 they were quiet. The advantage they received was for one inning because Glasnow tipped his pitches
So, did Glasnow clean up his delivery in the second inning? It's 100% on Glasnow and completely his fault. Tough learning experience. And, if the Astros spotted the tell, then wtf were the Rays coaches and players looking at the whole time cause they didn't go out to talk to him about it? Even if the Astros knew what was coming, it doesn't guarantee a hit in any way whatsoever. And, obviously, they can't know the location the pitch will cross the plate. Bregman hit what looked like a pretty good curveball to me. Pitching up to Altuve was a mistake.
Correa knew what was coming and still couldn't come close to hitting it. In fact, didn't he take the first two pitches for strikes that were right over the plate? WAKE UP, CORREA! WE NEED YOUR BAT NEXT SERIES!
Glasnow wasn't tipping pitches.....he was ****ing telegraphing them. This is the equivalent of teams backing up 10 feet on Ben Simmons. At a certain point, if you're not taking advantage of the glaring weakness of your opponent, you're simply not a competitor.
Manager and pitching coach deserve some blame, however, the main damage all happened within 10 pitches...pretty quick
I was curious what Bregman was saying to Correa. "If it's down it's a curve ball, if it's up it's a fastball."
This just means their spending time on things that they wouldn't ordinarily spend time on. Advantage us. Distracted.
It was funny that not one analyst cold pick it up before they saw the Astros chattering, two of them being catchers, and after that clip, everyone from Dan Pleasac to David Ortiz was an expert and just knew it. Just a little too ironic. That said, it happened. Tony Romo calls out shiot before it even happens. He's on a different level.
