I see what you did there. I know. I over reacted for shiiiits and giggles. I blame it on the China-crisis lol. This board is a roller coaster right now!
In another universe, this could be handed like this: "We noticed that you guys signed a Chinese flag last night. We know that you meant no harm, but we hold the symbol of our country very dear and do not allow such things to be done to it." "Oh, sorry about that, we didn't mean to insult, we will not do that again and will make sure other players are informed so that they don't make the same mistake." "Thank you." It won't be handled this way, but it would be nice.
Isn't there a Flag Code in the US as well? https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=granuleid:USC-prelim-title4-section8&num=0&edition=prelim Respect for flag says: (g) The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature. So I believe signing on a US national flag is illegal in the US as well. I know the penalty for breaking the flag code is not enforced and US people don't care about a law if the penalty is not enforced, but you don't get to laugh at those who understand the law better and comply with it, right?
When talk about Chinese law, it's a long story. First you should know that the entire law system is under CCP's control, there is not any independence. Second, the adjudgement on court usually use elapsed case as reference in western, but in China it's complicated. It depends on several factors, sometimes reference elapsed case, others like the government's policy, political demands, and sometimes even depends on the relationship between the defendant/plaintiff and the judge or the court. At last it's legal terms itself. Due to the complexity of Chinese language, the explanations of the legal terms aren't that strict, and even some legal text itself aren't rigorous. So some of these legal terms are called "pocket terms" in Chinese, it means the term can be explained widely so much so that lots of accusations can be put into that pocket. For example, few years ago, China had made a legal term named "making damage to computer information system". This term is a typical pocket term. Originally, this term is made for against those hacker stuff. In last two years, it's also used to against establishing or selling private VPN to access foreign website.
I think your avatar portraying a Rockets legend as a nutsack is not cool. Maybe it's just a cultural thing you don't get.
So now everything NBA and everything China is in this Rockets forum. Why? Please post this non Rockets basketball stuff in D&D.
This thread definitely belongs in the GARM. 1. The Lakers have Lebron. LeBron once was rumored to want to sign with the Rockets. 2. The Lakers are playing against a team with a Rockets legend. 3. The Lakers are signing their names on a China flag. Kevin Bacon was rumored to like Chinese food. There is a least one person on the Rockets who is less than 6 degree separated from Kevin Bacon.
That phrase on its own sounds disrespect because in certain contexts a pig is a metaphor of a fat or a stupid person in Chinese. But where does that phrase come from?
