Maybe I'm dense, but I don't understand what's the problem here. Yeah, I know the DOJ is running an investigation of the origins of the Mueller investigation. Its stupid and political, sure. But the DOJ can investigate what it likes. In their investigations, they'd like to be able to interview people in foreign governments, so they ask the president to give them a warm handover and he does so. So far as I can tell, the investigation into the investigation still has the veneer of official public business. So why shouldn't the office of the presidency assist in getting foreign interviews? This is not like asking Ukraine to investigate Biden. In that call, Trump wasn't asking for cooperation with US investigators, but for a Ukrainian investigation. He also had no cover story for how this effort was doing the people's business. I think getting in a tizzy about Australia dilutes the much weightier issue about Ukraine.
