...and this is why Joe Smith is allowed to face RHB only. I guarantee he won't see a lefty again this year.
HR totals, all 3 topped the record set last year by NYY: Min: 307 NYY: 306 Hou: 288 Stros win the SLG% challenge by .001 over the Twins .495 (which is a MLB record) to .494, thanks to Goodwin losing Diaz's "double" in the sun.
Doubt it had anything to do with what Devo did today, just getting pitches in for Harris. I trust the Hinch/Luhnow bullpen spreadsheet.
Best Astros regular season ever. One of the best ever by any team. What a treasure it was. 11 more wins, guys. You got this.
Crazy that they were able to win 107 games with Correa only playing 75 gms, Altuve 123 and Springer 121. Flat out incredible!!!
Will Harris finishes the year with the best reliever ERA in the American League. I wonder what his chances might be for Reliever of the Year. It's hard to beat closers for that award, but it's no longer unprecedented thanks to Josh Hader last year. That would be quite a thing to see after the past couple years of not knowing whether to trust him or not. Good job, Will Harris.
I'm guessing he makes ALDS. He throws enough strikes, is able to get swings and misses in the zone, and gets batters to make bad decisions (swinging at balls, looking at strikes). I think being able to get swings and misses in the zones is more important in the playoffs when one faces more disciplined hitters much like it is for closers in the 9th when batters are more patient.
Could you imagine the type of numbers Springer would have ended up with if he didn't get hurt. About 70 more at bats would have meant that he would be pushing 50 homeruns and 120 RBIs
