PJ Tucker, considered the NBA’s sneaker king, walked into the Rockets’ media day wearing a pair of New Balance. He had previously been a Nike guy.

D'Antoni on if the Rockets can be considered favorites: "Oh yeah, it does look that way. But this could be the press conference in Los Angeles, Utah or Portland. It's great for the NBA. There will be no games you can take off."

Morey added Denver as a contender but then added young teams Dallas, New Orleans, Sacramento as teams that could click.

D'Antoni said "Right now Eric (Gordon) is the starter and he should be."

Asked what he has learned in two years, Tilman Fertitta said, "Sports is a religion. Anything you say can become a headline. People love their sports more than businesses."
