Silver needs to go away. Stern should have picked someone just like him.

    1. NBA imements this new rule.
    2. Harden knows what to focus on before the next season.
    3. Harden leads the league in FT%.

    Go for it, Adam Silver.

Back in the Shaq day, the commish was smart enough not to mess with the product on the floor. By the way I’m at Shaq’s restaurant for lunch today at LA Live. They have a Shaq burger, and a Kobe burger lol! Does not take much to amuse me.

Imo... it all comes down to who initiates the contact... utilize that as the barometer and most of the stuff that people complain about disappears...

Personally, I have never been a fan of hunting for foul calls... I'd rather see a guy try to score a bucket - and if they get a call in the process - so be it...

Article is dumb. They want to BEND it to make it HURT Harden, but the truth is the opposite.

The MOST efficient shot will be the *1 FT for 3pts*. So this rule ENCOURAGES people to WANT to get fouled.

The NBA as a whole will ALL BE HUNTING for fouls.

Also, Harden getting fouled on FTS is everything about the DEFENDER in his landing space. This is not a Harden problem, it is a sloppy defender problem. But then again, when you are BENDING AN ARTICLE to SLANDER Harden, who needs facts?

The idea that Harden is gaming the system to trick the refs into awarding him free throws is just dumb. As someone who has League Pass and has only missed ONE Rockets game in the last five years, I know I'm right when I say that for every unearned foul Harden is gifted by the refs, there are 3-4 fouls against him that go uncalled.

You can argue that he tries to draw fouls, but you can't argue that he gets more undeserved calls than other superstars. Harden gets hacked on a nightly basis without getting foul calls as much as big men like Yao and Shaq used to.

It seems like they are in favor of the rule, but at least they get that it's anti-Harden. My friends think I am just being paranoid.

This doesn't hurt Harden it lets him get his points by hitting 1 FT.

1000% this. But to NON Rockets fans, Harden get *Villain fouls* that are underserved ALL THE TIME where as other players get *Valiant Fouls* that are rightly awarded. That literally is how they see it. It is the same fouls.

    This is our society.

Correct, this encourages fouling and I would expect smart and bad defensive teams to foul quite a bit.

Not to mention you have a former prominent ref(Javie) in an interview for an espn article directly saying almost word for word that Harden isn’t trying to trick refs and that almost all his foul calls are legit when you go back to replay. Saying Harden is just outsmarting defenders.....

You can hate that if you want, I guess, but I don’t see why you would.

Oh no an NBA superstar knows the rule book and takes advantage of it!!!

Players in other sports would be applauded for smart gamesmanship.

This might have the adverse reaction. Now you can get 3 points for 1 shot.

Can't wait to defend this. I'm about to tweet something pro Harden... I better get ready

Not sure? I'll help you. He hates Harden's game and stapled him to the article about a rule change not (yet?) affecting the NBA.

That’s obvious, but it’s too obvious, has to be something more to it.

The article is awful on numerous levels, and Silver once again shows the world that he should never have been handed his job. However, before we all flip out, it’s worth noting that the rule this season only applies to the G-League. With any luck at all, it will prove to be a failed experiment. Meanwhile, our players down there will be working even harder on improving their shots at the line. This idiocy may actually end up helping us.

This rule would really only hurt poor FT shooters, especially those whose shooting mechanics are poor. More often, they will miss the first FT and adjust enough to make the 2nd. So it penalizes those with the worst first FT percentage.

The league average for 1st FT make is 5% lower than the 2nd. Harden, on the other hand, is about equal in percentage of 1st FT vs 2nd, so this rule would not hinder him in the least because he like other elite FT shooters, has great shooting mechanics that are reproducible shot after shot.

If anything refs will call more fouls for Harden now since it takes less time to get the extra points.

Harden about to average 40 if the rules come into effect in the NBA.
