This is absolutely wrong. High crimes and misdemeanors is intentionally left undefined so that Congress would be free to determine what counts. (I would go so far as to say common crimes you'd find in statute shouldn't count, except insofar as they are also crimes that are politically significant. That's the implication of presidential immunity.) You're trying to misframe the issue to get to the answer you want, but impeachment isn't designed the way you describe.

This matter was already evaluated and determined not to be sufficient to warrant a full investigation.

DOJ Declined to Investigate Trump Ukraine Call, Found No Campaign Finance Violation

The Department of Justice declined to investigate the July call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that prompted a formal presidential impeachment inquiry into allegations of a quid pro quo scheme.

“Relying on established procedures set forth in the Justice Manual, the Department’s Criminal Division reviewed the official record of the call and determined, based on the facts and applicable law, that there was no campaign finance violation and that no further action was warranted,” read a Wednesday statement from Justice spokesperson Kerri Kupec.

“All relevant components of the Department agreed with this legal conclusion, and the Department has concluded the matter,” she added.

If the Democrats want to go all in with a nakedly politically contrived witch hunt, your explanation will be their explanation.

    Again. Go for it.

And why would we trust Barr? Would you trust a Eric Holder DOJ if something similar happened with Obama and Eric Holder's DOJ said "all clear". Would you believe it at face value? Be sincere.

She is not someone I would vote for, but she does appear to me to have some integrity and some intellectual independence, not to mention some strength. Which makes her worthy of my respect.

Why would you trust anyone who does not affirm for you whatever it is you want to hear on this subject? I do not believe that you would.

Did you ignore the rest of my post. If a similar situation happened with Obama, would you trust the Eric Holder DOJ stating "all clear"?

I would look at the facts and see that this was thin diarrhea class politically contrived B.S., and let it go at that. I would not need Eric Holder to tell me what to think on this. Seriously, you guys are beyond desperate if this is what you want to try to bring Trump down with.

    But, again. Go for it.

Do you see these same qualities in our mistake-in-chief? Is that why you respect him so?

So you believe it is thin diarrhea class politically contrived B.S. that the President witheld military aid to a foreign country that was already promised and then proceeded to call president from said foreign country requesting to investigate a personal political opponent of his?

I've noticed in your rhetoric replying to me, not once are you challenging the claim. You are just stating that "so and so says it isn't illegal". So you actually need Bill Barr to tell you what to think. Of course you wouldn't believe a single word from Eric Holder.

I get the sense that Mojo and most staunch conservatives on this site dislike liberals a lot more than they like Trump despite what they say. It’s a competition to demonstrate the other side is wrong more-so than what their side is doing is right. Remember how quickly they turned on W once 2006 rolled around?

Having been around right wing conservatives while a Marine grunt, I can say the vast majority of them will follow whomever hates the same people they hate. @MojoMan exemplifies this notion.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. This is what I was speaking to earlier when I said I am an independent and not a Republican. Same thing with Trump. I like a lot of what he has done and the direction he is taking the country. But the whole Obama style personality cult thing is not something that resonates with me, regardless of how inconceivable that may be to some other posters around here, who apparently do think that way themselves.

And I wish it was not as much about being anti-leftist as it currently is, but those people are just plain evil.

What did not happen? The part where he witheld Ukrainian military aid? Or the part where he preceded to call the Ukrainian President and requested him to investigate a political rival?

Being more explicit would help in this conversation.

If I could make them do it, I would.

But, let's not jump too far ahead. They need to look at the whistleblower complaint and see if there is a genuine concern here. That's why we're in the inquiry stage and not writing articles of impeachment at the moment.

Take it to the other thread. You are clearly in your lynch mob frenzy mindset right now. As a result, I do not see any point in discussing this with you any further at this time.
