By trading blows you really mean they were kicking our asses. It was pretty painful living here in Braves country (The first time I saw the Astros win in Atlanta was 2004 NLDS, despite having been going to games for 10+ years). Finally breaking through in 2004 felt so good.
Yep. Walt ****in Weiss in game 3. Short series and they couldn't start Hampton in game 1 because they needed him to clinch the division at the end of the season.
Cole was very complimentary toward the fans during his postgame interview. He said the fans surrport him and the team well and they've been doing his entire time here. Sounds like he's staying
Yea that too. Always seemed like we were just never meant to have big time success back then. I was 29 then, watching that game on a treadmill at 24hr fitness in Lewisville. (Dallas) My old man died summer of 2016 at 69, one year before we finally won it all. He grew up in Deer Park, diehard lifelong fan. I still can’t believe he’s not getting to see this period of Astro baseball. I’m sure I’m not the only one.....
Those Killer B teams perpetuated Houston's theme of flops and asterisks. Braves weren't defeated until "others" stepped up. Bagwell is still one of my favs though, and is the greatest Astro, and Top Five 1B All-Time..
That didn't happen vs the Braves until '99. Then '01. That's it. Nobody expected us to do **** vs them in '97, nor should they have.
Right. More times than not (2 of 3 --- 66%), those squads were a flop. Adding the Padres makes the thesis even more conspicuous.
