I gotta say I think this might have just been a circumstance of he’s not that funny . Snl is trying to hire funny people . This guy thought saying chink jew was funny . Hell , it can be in some contexts , I bet Eric cartman could pull it off fabulously . But this guy lacked that sort of humor . I have a feeling if this clip broke out to the public say in what ? 2005 ? 2008? How far back is before the internet victim culture was created ? Anyways he might still be fired for saying that in that context. At the very least it would have been a story and the decision left to the discretion of employer . I don’t think snl feels any loss here .
I watched an episode of that the first time in 20 years on Saturday night, and they should just go ahead and fire everyone
specifically, his racist remark on Presidential candidate Andrew Yang. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php...dent-2020-thread.296602/page-38#post-12598989 Shane Gillis, one of 3 newest members of SNL, called out Yang directly in audio from an episode of the Real Ass Podcast. Gillis can be heard calling Yang a "Jew ch---k," as well as the comedian using racial slurs and Chinese accents. he is facing backlash over using racial and homophobic slurs.
Spoiler alert: He uses sp--- for the encore. Too sensible to use the n-word though. Looks like more rounds of beef-a-ronis at the Super 8 for Shane-O.
I wish comedians could get a free pass on this stuff. As it is, has to be funny to get away with it, and this wasn't particularly, but I don't want any constraints on their process funny or not.
Saw on reddit. Made me smile. If Thanos can't get a pass, Shane MF'ing Gillis needs to watch his step.
I don’t think he should have lost his job over it as a comedian. However the public has spoken I suppose. I don’t find him particularly funny though.
Unfortunately people believe offending people had an intrinsic comedic effect. Offensive comments alone doesn't make comedy.
