So you agree that at the very least he was an idiot for associating himself with a group called “Focus on the Family” without asking what that group has in mind.
Good: Watson, the run blocking and RBs (mostly), Hopkins and Fuller, Mercilus & McKinney Bad: pass blocking, Watson's back (TBD if good or ugly), edge defense v the run, covering backs out of the backfield, mixups on handoffs Ugly: play calling, time management, invisible TEs, pass rush, secondary
Oh I believe he knows exactly what they stand for, I just know that people like yourself and a lot of this board believe that he has no right to support them. Therefore do what you do and run him out of the league. I do not believe he’s an idiot.
Watson had to convert so many third and long bc he had to compensate for sht oline, oline penalties and sht playcalling. We should have won this one.
Name 4 other DEs better than him. I'll wait. Unless the rest of the season mirrors this game, production-wise, Watt is still elite and Watt is one of the best defensive players in the game. Not just one of the best DEs. If Aaron Donald didn't exist, Watt might have been the DPoY last year.
I can't believe we played so soft on coverage with 7 seconds left and one timeout. Literally the worst possible defense for that situation.
Maybe not 4 better DEs than him but defensive players? As you mentioned, Donald, then Mack, Jaylen Ramsey, Kuechly, Fletcher Cox, Peterson these are guys I think all have much more of an impact today than he does that destroy drives regularly. I'd probably put Gilmore on there too as he routinely shuts down the best WRs in the game. This was the first game in Watt's career that he didn't record anything, he did get a good pressure later in the game but that was a pretty poor game for him, alarmingly poor, again he's getting up there in age for a physical position so I'm going to expect that Watt will be a good player going forward, not elite, will still have great games, but the days of him constantly wrecking drives by himself I feel are over. I hope I'm wrong.
3, none were easy catches but all 3 were catches we've seen him make multiple times before. Pretty sure he caught everything thrown to him in the 2nd half.
Times like this I'm glad I lost emotional interest in this franchise because that one would have f**king hurt. Instead it was mild disappointment...but never unexpected. Watson is a SB worthy QB, I just hope the organization around him gives him a chance someday.
Poor Watson. He's going to end up like Luck. OL getting him killed. Get the dude some help. Don't let him go out like Luck. Derek Carr didn't even get touched against Von Miller and Chubsssss
