Look I’m not a fan of BOB or what’s going on over on Kirby but Tunsil was one of the best tackles in the NFL last season but he’s been on a bad team and he’s actually underrated. There’s a reason he was drafted 13/1. He’s got all the tools so Tunsil is ever bit of a franchise tackle if he continues his ascension. He’s now far and away our best OL....
Haha, Ok you got me there but you get it....he IS good, he’s 6 5” 313 and has excellent feet, great extension...you’ve just given Watson what he’s NEVER really had, TIME from his blind side
Giving up all those picks because we wouldn’t move up for Dillard. Anyone still buying that BS that they wanted actually valued Howard over Dillard?
If we beat the Saints, then the trade is great. If we lose to the Saints, then the trade will suck. Right?
Perhaps he becomes a franchise LT. Right now he is in the 10–15 range. He is a massive upgrade but he isn’t an all pro like some seem to assume.
No, the hope is that he will be a franchise LT because of his age. Watson is barely a top 10 QB too at his age but that's the same hope we have for him. Tunsil is rated like 16th LT, that's not bad at all for a guy just starting his NFL career basically.
Isn't that the definition of a franchise LT though? Somebody who would be the best LT on the majority of NFL teams? Somebody who you just plug into the position and leave it be until he either gets injured or retires? Duane Brown was also a top 10 tackle... an first team all-pro once, pro bowler 4 times. Never the for sure best tackle in football, but a franchise LT nonetheless. If Tunsil turns into that guy, and more importantly keeps Watson upright and allows him to excel, he does turn into a very important acquisition. Everybody's job is tied to Watson's success... a shame they didn't try and acquire a LT last year, in the draft, or in the off-season.
I read that he was ranked 11th. I’m happy with the player and his potential just not happy with what we gave up. Bill desperate Obrien put us in this situation and had to leverage our future to give us a chance to dig our way out. Here’s hoping he’s a pro bowler for the next 10 years and keeps Watson upright but even if he does it’s still a lot to give up.
Yes, they overpaid and they boxed themselves in with how they handled Clowney and the draft. O'Brien should not be let off the hook for how he created the mess in the first place. But they were desperate and I am glad they did something to protect Watson this year. Before this trade Watson was going to potentially have an Offensive line as bad as the one that got him sacked 62 times last season.
If this were the Astros or the Rockets I'd be pissed. But football is a high variance sports and it's not like they were competing for anything in the first place, so these mortgage the future to win today may not turn out to badly. Either they win this year and it's all worth it or everything crash and burns which wouldn't be much different from most of this team's existence anyways.
Never did buy it and if that was your guy you go get him. That was an exceptional mistake but everyone in the room has to take responsibility for the fuuck up but Gaine took the bullet. The incompetence Is top to bottom over on Kirby
Correct, but better than the trash we have there now. Crossing fingers that sacks on DW4 will get reduced.
