I've never read a book about all of it, don't know if one good one exists, but from what I've pieced together it would be a fascinating read.
If I am wrong about heroin accept my apology. I read about it several years ago and I believed in one of the DEA or deposition transcripts there was reference to heroin as well. I met Enos Cabell when I was in high school, his son Marcus attended my high school so I got to know them fairly well. Enos was the last person you would ever thing would be into the scene. I guess people change. I know Nolan Ryan did not have a high opinion of Enos though.
I think maybe I've seen one of those, dunno The whole Houston sports scene was into it. It was the go-go times, Htown was booming, coke and money were everywhere. Look at the Rockets....
Nothing that is plate appearance related. 36 games left, he needs around 270 plate appearances to qualify. The math doesn't come close to working.
Am I the only one that gets disappointed when he only goes 1 for X at bats and has only 1 RBI? It's like the Altuve MVP season, where if he only got one hit, his batting average dropped. I'm super spoiled with this team.

You can play(even play better) sports on coke because it makes you go go, and also lose weight. You can not play sports on heroine. Heroine makes you not give a ****, especially about competing and bettering yourself. If people forget to feed their new born babies on heroin, they are not going to remember to practice.
I’m at the game. Reid Ryan said no one has ever done that. Alvarez was cranking them like nothing I have ever seen and it looked like he was barely swinging.
A 500 HR career would not at all be a surprise. Having knee problems this young means a short career or early decline would also not be a big surprise. He does not have Bonds’ bat speed and he should not play the field. But his combo of plate discipline and power for his age is as good as anyone who has ever played. He is also extremely smart so if he stays healthy a hall of fame career is reasonable.
I hope so. I thought I heard/read he had knee issues outside of that incident. But watching him run, he looks like a guy with bad knees. He’s an extremely well put together guy walking around and in the box he looks like an NFL TE, but he looked hitchy to me when running full speed; hopefully I’m imagining it.
I took my sons to the no-hitter game a few weeks ago. They’re not baseball fans in general so I was telling them about Alvarez. I said that one day, he’s going to break that screen.
